Matisyahu Sees the ‘Light’ with 2009 Tour

Matisyahu has quite an extensive North American fall and winter tour lined up following the recent release of his third album “Light.”

The musician from Brooklyn will join backup up band Dub Trio on the tour which kicks off in Calgary on October 17. The 40 city tour will work its way from the West to East Coast, ending in Rochester, NY on December 8.

Matisyahu, for the North American tour, has teamed with Posse, an Australian company which offers ticketing that is peer-to-peer. A press release stated that the partnership enables fans to promote shows through their individual profiles on social networks and link to the tickets directly where they earn commission on each ticket that is sold.

The press release states that the top ticket seller in the nation will receive a prize, and the top sellers for each market will get two free tickets along with a meet and greet with Matisyahu.

“Light” hit the stores last month, peaking on the Billboard 200 at No. 19.

Matisyahu said that on the record he dropped his accent a lot more and just tried to allow his voice to come out, expressing with some rapping, some singing, and not with any one style. So people will probably say it isn’t really reggae.
