The American country music songwriter and singer Martina McBride was born in Sharon, Kansas on July 29, 1966. McBride has been dubbed Country Music's Celine Dion due to her soprano range and big-voiced ballads.

In 1991, Martina McBride signed with RCA Records. The following year she made her debut as a country singer in the neo-traditionalist style with the song The Time Has Come. However it wasn't until 1997 after releasing Evolution, her third album, that McBride finally had her breakthrough with the country music industry. Her new pop style crossover sound was similar to Shania Twain's and Faith Hill's. Since then McBride has had a series of hit singles on Billboard's country chart as well as occasionally on their adult contemporary chart. From 1995 to 2001 five of McBride's singles peaked at No. 1 as well as one No. 1 in 2003 on Billboard's adult contemporary chart.

Martina McBride has recorded nine studio albums, a live album a greatest hits compilation, a Christmas compilation and two other compilation sets. Seven of McBride's studio albums along with two compilation sets have been certified Gold or higher by the RIAA. She has sold more than 18 million worldwide albums. The Country Music Association has named McBride as Female Vocalist of the Year four times. She and Reba McEntire are tied for most wins. McBride has also been named Top Female Vocalist by the Academy of Country Music three times. In 2007 McBride was the highest grossing Country Artist and trailed only Gwen Stefan for highest grossing female.
