The American singer-songwriter, producer and actor Marc Anthony was born on September 16, 1968 in New York City. He is the all time best-selling tropical salsa artist. Anthony has won three Latin Grammys and two Grammy Awards and sold over 12 million worldwide albums. His Latin ballads and salsa numbers are what Anthony is most known for. He holds the record for most No. 1 singles on Billboard's Tropical Songs chart. Anthony is a limited partner/minority owner of the NFL team the Miami Dolphins.

Marc Anthony was a session vocalist at the beginning of his music career, working for underground and freestyle house music acts in New York. He then worked as a backing vocalist and songwriter for the pop acts Latin Rascals and Menudo. In 1998 he released his debut album on Bluedog Records, "Rebel," a freestyle music album. Anthony sang backup vocals in 1989 on "Without or Without You," a freestyle club hit, for Ann-Marie. After writing and singing on several freestyle songs, he changed his style to salsa as well as other Lain styles after 1992.

Initially Anthony was reluctant to move to salsa. However after hearing "Hasta Que Te Conoci," a hit song by Juan Gabriel," he changed his mind. In 1993 Anthony released "Otra Nota," his debut Spanish language album. The set was inspired by musicians such as Juan Gabriel, Ruben Blades and Tito Puente. Anthony released his second album, "Todo a su tiempo," in 1995. The album received a Grammy nomination and Billboard named Anthony Hot Tropical Artist of the Year.

In 1999 Anthony released his first English language album. The self-titled set debuted in the No. 8 spot on Billboard's album chart. Eventually the album went triple platinum. Anthony has released a total of 13 studio albums. His latest, "Iconos," was released in 2010. Anthony has also worked as an actor, He has appeared in numerous films, including Hackers, Big Night, Bringing Out the Dead, In the Time of the Butterflies, Man on Fire and El Cantante.
