Lorde Set to Tour North America in March
After having an insane 2013 and scoring one of the year’s biggest hits with “Royals”, Lorde has announced that she’s due to embark on a North American tour for 2014 and it doesn’t stop there – according to her Reddit AMA over the weekend, festival dates and more touring in the States is planned for the near future.
The 15-market tour is due to begin on March 3rd in Austin, and will end on March 26th in Oakland, California. The tour includes two dates at New York’s Roseland Ballroom and one in Toronto, as well as stops in Boston, Detroit and Chicago.
Lorde’s debut album, Pure Heroine, topped the Billboard albums chart after its release in September and has sold nearly 500,000 copies in the USA since, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Her single “Royals” has been downloaded 3.9 million times. You might even say she’s the ‘Lorde’ of the charts. Heh heh. (See what I did there?)
More recently, Lorde released the video for “Team”, her follow-up single to “Royals”, on December 3rd. She also performed for the December 6th Grammy nominations telecast and received four nominations, including record and song of the year, which isn’t bad going for a 16 year old. (I know; I know. I, too, feel so old.)
Anyway, I know you’ve all been waiting for some serious highlights from Lorde’s Reddit AMA, so here is my personal favourite two-part question and answer combo:
“What’s with all the lyrical references to teeth on Pure Heroine? “just a weird obsession that has been with me always. ironically, i hate dentists.”
Why do you hate dentists, Lorde? “what can i say? the whole experience hit a nerve.”"
Pure Heroine? Pure genius, more like. Brilliant.
