Lollapalooza Chile 2013 Books Pearl Jam, Black Keys, Deadmau5
The Lollapalooza Brazil event will once again be held at the Sao Paulo Jocky Club, this time on March 29-31, 2013. Lollapalooza Chile will come the following weekend, April 6-7, at the Parque O’Higgins in Santiago.
Many acts will appear at both festivals, including the headliners as well as other notables like the Killers, Queens of the Stone Age, A Perfect Circle, Nas, Franz Ferdinand, the Hives, Hot Chip, Gary Clark, Jr., Alabama Shakes, Puscifer, Two Door Cinema Club, Passion Pit, Kaiser Chiefs, Crystal Castles, Kaskade, Toro Y Moi, Porter Robinson and Steve Aoki.
There are a few acts, however, that will only appear at one of the two festivals. The Chile version of the event will be the exclusive host of Keane, Bad Brains, Manuel Garcia and Los Tres. Those attending the Brazil festival will see the Flaming Lips, Cake, Criolo + Emicida, Madeon and others.
In addition to these festivals, Lollapalooza also will play its annual Chicago show August 2-4, and will for the first time be held in Tel Aviv, Israel, as well. The latter festival will be held August 20-22 next year in Yarkon Park, which is the largest park in the country. Lineups for both of those festivals will be announced at a later time.
Lollapalooza was founded by Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell as a traveling music festival that was first held in 1991. It was held in this manner every year until 1997, when the Lollapalooza name went on hiatus. Though it returned as a tour in 2003, a planned outing the following year was canceled due to low ticket sales.
Lollapalooza then returned in 2005 as a two- (later three-) day event held in Chicago. The Chile incarnation was first held in 2011, followed by the Brazil version the following year.
