Listen in on Dave Chappelle’s Oddball Comedy Tour in Chicago
The internet got a tad worked up last week when excerpts from Dave Chappelle’s comeback show in Chicago surfaced online highlighting his opening jokes where he launched a bizarre poetic assault on Hartford, Connecticut.
Luckily for Chappelle’s fans, the whole thing is now available to listen on Youtube, and honestly, Hartford: you got off easy.
The rapper spends 42 whole minutes making jokes about anything and everything; highlights include racial stereotypes, Paula Deen, 50 Cent, and, of course, Lil Wayne and Kanye West.
The Lil Wayne joke is a particular favorite, though Weezy does perhaps make for an easy target. It begins with Chappelle expressing admiration for the rapper:
“One of my favorite rappers, I’m not even bullshitting, and I promise y’all I mean this, is Lil Wayne. I’ve never met him, but he’s one of my favorite rappers. I guarantee you he could win a Pulitzer Prize. This motherf–kers is one of the most descriptive artists in modern popular culture.”
Except it’s all a joke, see:
“He says the coolest s–t, just throws it a way. “I got three kids and they all three.” Like, goddamn, this guy’s a genius. He also says, “Real G’s move in silence like lasagna.” S–t like that.
And you can picture everything he says. There’s one song where he says, “I got a b—h that played in movies in my jacuzzi.” And then he says, “’P—y juicy.’ I close my eyes when I listen to that and picture it in my head. I see Lil Wayne sitting in the hot tub.”
He’s making a joke at Lil Wayne’s expense – get it?
Anyway, for the Lil Wayne joke, head to the 28:00 mark. If you’re looking for the Kanye West story, do the same thing, except head to the 40:00 mark instead. I am not going to reproduce it here; it’ll be better if you just listen.
