Linkin Park Prepares for 2011 Arena Tour
This fall the touring efforts of Linkin Park were focused on Europe. In 2011 the rockers are scheduled to launch a tour of North America.
The tour will kick off in Sunrise, FL on January 20. There are dates currently scheduled through the end of February. Through February 10 support will be provided by Yeah?, Does It Offend You and Pendulum. The remaining shows will be opened by Prodigy. On November 20 tickets will be going on sale for the general public. However, fans can access a pre-sale through joining Linkin Park’s fan club or buying select merchandise. The band’s website has additional information.
Ticket holders will be given a code to text from a mobile phone to download the show’s live recording they attended. The code will be on display at the concert’s venue. Music for Relief will receive one dollar from each ticket purchase. According to a recent press release the charitable organization was established by Linkin Park for helping to provide natural disaster victims with relief and bring awareness to global warming solutions.
The last time Linkin Park toured North America was in 2008. The band will be touring to support “A Thousand Suns,” their recently released album. During the set’s first week out in stores it sold 241,000 copies and was No. 1 on Billboard’s 200 chart during the month of September.
The set list for the tour will mix material from their new album along with hits from the band’s entire career.
In a recent press release, Chester Bennington, Linkin Park frontman said, our new songs work quite well besides our older stuff. Also, “A Thousand Suns” has a powerful, strong message. We are transferring that to our show. Our goal wasn’t just to put a live performance on, but to also offer something visually spectacular.
