Ledisi Joins Forces with Eric Benet for Summer Tour
R&B sensations Eric Benet and Ledisi will join forces for an extensive tour, it was announced recently.
Dubbed the Be Good To Yourself Tour, the jaunt will kick off on Sunday at The Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Penn. and is set to run through August 5, when the tour will close out the trek with a show at the Chastain Park Amphitheater in Atlanta. In between those dates, the tour will hit cities including Boston, New York, Houston, Dallas, Omaha, Memphis, San Diego, Detroit, Nashville and Richmond, Va. Chrisette Michele will open select dates of the tour.
Both artists have already had big years this year, and Benet was nominated for a Grammy award for Best Traditional R&B Performance for his single “Sometimes I Cry.” That song was from his album Lost in Time, which was released back in 2010. But Benet’s also has a new album to support on the road.
The One is his sixth studio album, and was released on June 5. The first single from the album, “Real Love,” was released in October of last year, and a second single, “Harriet Jones,” was released in May. His song “Redbone Girl” from the album features a guest appearance by rapper Lil Wayne.
Ledisi’s most recent album, Pieces of Me, was released in June of last year, and was nominated for Best R&B album at this year’s Grammy Awards. The album is Ledisi’s fifth studio record and includes the song BGTY, which stands for Be Good To Yourself and is where the tour gets its title.
Additionally, the singer partnered with ESSENCE magazine to release the book “Better Than Alright: Finding Peace, Love & Power” earlier this month. The book features photos, quotes, lyrics and detailed stories from the singer’s “journey to acceptance of her beauty, talent and power.”
