korn Biography

The American rock band Korn was formed in 1993 in Bakersfield, California. The band's current line up consists of four members: Ray Luzier (percussion, drums), bassist Reginald Fieldly Arvizu, James Munky Shaffer (backing vocals, guitars) and Jonathan Davis (bagpipes, lead vocals). The band was originally L.A.P.D. and was expanded into Korn.

In 1993, Korn released Neidermeyer's Mind, the band's first demo album. They released Korn, their self-titled debut, in 1994. In 1996 the band released their second album Life Is Peachy. In 1998 Follow the Leader, Korn's breakthrough album, was released. The set peaked in the No. 1 spot on Billboard's 200 chart. Issues was released in 1999, Untouchables in 2002 , Take a Look in the Mirror in 2003, See You on the other Side in 2005 and an untitled album in 2007. The band's latest and ninth studio studio album, Korn III: Remember Who You Are, was released in 2010.

Over the course of Korn's career, the band has sold 16 million US albums and more than 40 million worldwide. The band has had ten of their official releases peak on the Billboard 200 chart's top ten, and eight have peaked within the top five spots. Eight of the band's releases have been certified by the RIAA as Multi-Platinum or Platinum and they also have had one that was certified Gold. The band has also released 32 music videos and six video albums. Korn has been nominated for seven Grammy Awards and won two for Here to Stay and Freak on a Leash.
