Katy Perry to Play Free Concert in Los Angeles to End Tour

Katy Perry appeared on “The Ellen Degeneres Show” to promote the release of her newest video for “The One That Got Away,” and also broke the news that she will be playing a free concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on November 23. The following is her full announcement from the show:

I’m giving thanks to all of my fans. And this is my big announcement here on Ellen that nobody’s heard about yet or knows about. I played 121 shows up until that 23rd date, and I want to finish it off with renting out Staples myself and giving a free concert to anyone in the world that wants to come see the California Dreams Tour as my last show.

Perry already was scheduled to play a show at the Staples Center the day prior to the previous show, and no tickets were available for that show as of Monday, November 14, though it was not yet listed as sold out.

Fans wanting tickets to the free show must go to Perry’s Facebook page and register for the chance to receive a free code, which will allow the invited fan up to four passes to the show. Those registering are asked to provide their email address, name, zip code, country and birth date. The minimum age to enter is 18.

The California Dreams Tour commenced in February 2011, and has taken Perry to Europe, Australia, Asia and North and South America. Throughout the tour, she has had a number of artists open for her, including Janelle Monae, Robyn and New Yong Pony Club.

“The One That Got Away” was released as the sixth single from Perry’s latest album, Teenage Dream, in October 2011. Thus far, it has peaked at number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Teenage Dream was released on August 24, 2010, and has gone on to sell over 2 million copies and win the International Album of the Year award at the 2011 Juno Awards.
