Kanye West, Lou Reed, Keane Sign On for UR1 Festival
In one of the most eclectic festival headline announcements of the year, Kanye West, Lou Read and Keane will be the big names at the first ever UR1 Festival in Miami.
The festival will be held December 8-9 at Miami’s Bayfront Park as part of the 11th Annual Art Basel Miami Beach, a contemporary art fair.
Other notable artists that have already signed on to appear at the festival include The Offspring, Cocoon Heroes, Erick Morillo and Bob Sinclair. The event will feature multiple stages, so it is fairly safe to say we can expect additional lineup announcements in the future.
Here’s how the festival’s official website describes the event:
A World Class Signature Festival blending your favorite artists in the world through multiple genres of Music, Art & Live Performances.
We have entered a new decade. A decade where technology has closed the gap between countries, cultures, thoughts, ideas and discovery of music. In these times there needs to be a positive celebration that unites all different genres of music under one banner.
This is UR1. This new festival is designed with a purpose to unite people as one through Art & Sound – the world as 1.
A press release says that the festival stands to “become one of the biggest and most diverse festivals in North America… UR1 Festival will feature multi-genre talent, including Electronic, Rock, Hip-Hop and Alternative music; on five stages throughout the 32-acre waterfront property. The event promises to be a 4D experience; incorporating art installations by some of the most creative artists and musicians in the world and looks to raise the bar of what a true music and arts festival can be.”
The original Arts Basel fair is held in Switzerland, and the Miami version opened as a sister exhibition to that fair in 2002.
