Joss Stone Supports ‘Soul Sessions 2′ with 10 City Tour
British soul singer Joss Stone previously planned worldwide dates to support her most recent album, and now she’s announced some North American dates to go along with those.
The first show on the North American leg will be at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver on September 27, and the stint is currently scheduled to run through October 24 with a show in Los Angeles at a venue that will be announced later. In between, Stone will visit Portland, Ore.; Seattle; Royal Oak, Mich.; Chicago; Toronto; Montreal; New York and San Diego.
Stone’s official website also notes that more dates will be announced in the coming weeks. Before she heads to North America, Stone will play a series of shows throughout Europe during the first part of September. A South American leg is expected to be announced soon, as well.
The Soul Sessions Vol. 2 is Stone’s sixth studio album and was released in July of this year. The live record was recorded in Nashville and New York, and contains 11 cover songs. The album is the follow up to Stone’s successful 2003 debut, The Soul Sessions. That album also featured covers, though they were recorded in the studio. The singer had a hit with the White Stripes song “Fell in Love with a Girl,” which she re-titled “Fell in Love with a Boy.”
In addition to making her own music, Stone has also been working lately as a member of Super Heavy, which puts her in the company of some of the biggest names in music. Mick Jagger, Eurhythmic Dave Stewart, Damian Marley and Indian film composer A.R. Rahman make up the group along with Stone. The band released a self-titled debut album in September of last year. The album debuted (and peaked) at number 26 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
