Jimmy Buffett to Play Frisco, Tower Amphitheatre with Jackson Browne

Jimmy Buffett says his concerts this year are part of the “Songs From St. Somewhere Tour,” but so far the “tour” has seemed more like a few scattered one-off dates around the country. But it looks like news for Parrotheads could be picking up, as the man in the Tommy Bahama shirt has added three concerts during the past couple days.

The first will take place at the newly opened Tower Amphitheater in Austin, Texas on May 2, followed closely by a May 4 date at the FC Dallas Stadium in Frisco, Texas just outside of Dallas. Both concerts will feature special guest opener Jackson Browne.

A little over a month later, Buffett will appear with his Coral Reefers Band at Farm Bureau Live in Virginia Beach, Virginia, though it is unclear if Browne will join him for that show, as well. No word yet on if or when more dates will be added to Buffett’s tour schedule.

At the Texas shows, both Buffett and Browne will perform sets with their respective full bands. This is notable as both have been performing quite a few acoustic shows of late.

“I promise this will be a very special evening for all music fans and will go down as one of the most memorable concerts in Austin’s rich music history,” said Bob Roux, president of Live Nation/North American Concerts, in a statement/hyperbole about the Austin show.

The name of the tour comes from the tentative title of Buffett’s upcoming record Songs from St. Somewhere, which a press release says the artist will be heading to a studio to record “soon.” Assuming the album is made up of all new songs, it will be Buffett’s first original studio album since 2009’s Buffet Hotel. However, last year he released Welcome to Fin City, a live album recorded at two Las Vegas concerts.
