jeff beck Biography
The English rock guitarist Jeff Beck was born in Wallington, England on June 24, 1944. He is one of three notable guitarists, along with Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton, that played for The Yardbirds. He also established The Jeff Beck Group as well as Beck, Bogert & Appice. Rolling Stone magazine ranked Beck as 14th on their 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time list and was described as one of rock's most influential lead guitar players.
A majority of Beck's recordings have been instrumental and have focused on innovative sound. His recordings have drawn on numerous genres, from blues-rock, jazz-fusion and heavy metal to the more recent blend of electronica and guitar rock. Beck has received widespread critical acclaim and has won six Grammy Awards in the Best Rock Instrumental Performance category. As a soloist Beck's 1975 and 1976 albums were hits, however he hasn't enjoyed sustained commercial success or garnered a broad following like that of many of his bandmates and collaborators. Beck has appeared on the albums of ZZ Top, Brian May, Cyndi Lauper, Zucchero, Les Paul, Stevie Wonder, Roger Waters, Kate Bush and Mick Jagger. In 1988, he appeared in the film 'Twins in a cameo appearance.
Jeff Beck is a two time inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: in 1992 as a The Yardbirds band member and in 2009 as a soloist.
