Jason Castro Becomes a Mallrat
Jason Castro, former 2008 contestant of “American Idol,” will head out on a US malls tour this fall in support of his upcoming, but still unnamed debut album.
Castro’s cross-country tour will kick off in Edina, MN on October 12 and will consist of a total of 14 free performances in shopping malls across the nation. The guitarist/singer will finish the tour in Ontario, CA on November 15.
Castro was third runner up in the 2009 “American Idol” competition. He will be previewing his debut album for his fans. The lead single for the album, “Let’s Just Fall In Love Again,” is available currently on iTunes. Later this month it will be hitting the airwaves.
For fans who pre-order Castro’s new album via his website, they instantly receive “Let’s Just Fall In Love Again” as a digital single.
When Castro sang and played guitar to “Hallelujah,” covering the Leonard Cohen song, he became the first ever contestant on the show to play a musical instrument. According to a press release, the next week a 1994 Jeff Buckley version of “Hallelujah” was the No. 1 hit on iTunes, selling over 175,000 digital copies.
