Jana Kramer, the American country music singer and actress, was born on December 2, 1983 in Detroit, Michigan. Kramer is known best for playing the role of Alex Dupre on CW Television's "One Tree Hill" television series. In 2010 Kramer launched her country music career when she released the song "Why Ya Wanna" off her debut self-titled album with Elektra Records.
Kramer made her first acting appearance in 2002 in Dead/Undead, an independent low-budget horror movie. In 2003 Kramer made her television debut on the soap opera "All My Children" in a guest appearance role. Kramer has appeared in several other television shows, including "CSI:NY," "Private Practice," "Grey's Anatomy" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation." Kramer also had minor roles in movies like Spring Breakdown, Prom Night and Click.
Kramer had a recurring role in 2007 on "Friday Night Lights," an NBA television series. She played Noelle Davenport during the second season of the series. Kramer appeared in the television series "90210" in 2008. She played Portia Ranson, a high school student. Kramer appeared in "Entourage," an HBO television series, in 2009. She also appeared in "One Tree Hill" in 2009, playing Alex Dupre. Kramer announced in March 2012 that she would not be returning to the final season of the show so she could pursue a career in music.
Kramer signed with Elektra Records in February 2011. She premiered "I Won't Give Up," her promo track, that month on an episode of "One Tree Hill." The next day it was released exclusively on Amazon and iTunes. The song peaked in the No. 75 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. In March 2011 Kramer started working on her first album. "Whiskey," another promo track, was released by Kramer in April 2011. The song peaked in the No. 99 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. Kramer released "Why Ya Wanna," her debut single, in January 2012. The song peaked in the No. 52 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart as well as the No. 3 spot on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. The second single off the album is "Whiskey." Kramer's debut self-titled album was released in June 2012.
