James Taylor, Carole King Set US Tour Dates

Late last year Carole King and James Taylor announced that they had plans for a joint road trip in 2010. They are now unveiling their itinerary for the U.S.

The iconic songwriting/singing pair will be hitting the road together in early May. There are stops planned for 20 cites in the US as well as Toronto. Their schedule also includes three nights in Los Angeles.

King and Taylor have named their upcoming tour “Troubadour Reunion.” It was named after a six performance series the two friends did together during 2007 to celebrate the 50th anniversary for the historic Troubadour nightclub in West Hollywood, CA.

Taylor said in the press statement, the Troubadour Reunion tour has been something we have waited to have happen for so long. The years just seem to vanish. Where does all the time go? When we got together for the 50th anniversary celebration for the Troubadour it felt just like yesterday. Back then and still today it’s all about performing the songs and music together.

The most recent studio album for Taylor, “Covers,” released last fall debuted on Billboard’s 200 at No. 4. During the first week after its release the album sold 94,500 units. The album was recorded over a session of 10 days in the Massachusetts studio of Taylor’s. “Covers” features Taylor’s versions from some of the classic songs of several artists, including The Temptations, George Jones and Leonard Cohen, among others.

There is also a companion set of seven songs, “Other Covers,” that features songs that didn’t make it onto Taylor’s first release. It includes remakes of “In the Midnight Hour” by Wilson Pickett and “Knock on Wood” by Eddie Floyd.

The newest studio album from Carole King was “Love Makes the World” that was released in 2001. King released “Welcome to my Living Room,” a live DVD in 2007. The DVD featured 29 songs from King’s 205-2006 “Living Room Tour,” which sold out and included 21 Top 40 hit songs, seven number 1 singles, and 11 songs that were not on the 2005 live CD “Living Room Tour.”
