Jake Owen Headlines CMT on Tour with Love and Theft

Jake Owen will headline the upcoming CMT on Tour, and he’ll bring special guests Love and Theft around the country with him.

This year will mark the 11th annual incarnation of the event, and will kick off on October 10 at the Best Buy Theater in New York City. The trek, dubbed Jake Owen: The Summer Never Ends 2012, is scheduled to run through a December 15 show in Vero Beach, Fla. that will raise money for the Jake Owen Foundation.

The third show on the tour will be a Detroit show on October 18, which will come exactly two months from when Owen announced the tour in Detroit over the weekend as he opened for Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw’s Brothers of the Sun show in the Michigan capital. The tour also will visit Savannah, Chicago, Des Moines, Minneapolis, Milwaukee and St. Louis.

Besides Owen and Love and Theft, Florida Georgia Line also will be along for the tour, playing the opening slot. Owen said recently that he was familiar with that spot himself.

“Being the headliner of a tour is something I’ve been dreaming about since I was in college, performing songs every Sunday afternoon on a bar stool and playing for tips,” Owen told CMT.

“Headlining the CMT tour is really cool for me because I was the opening act in 2007 when Sugarland was the headliner and Little Big Town had the middle slot,” Owen continued. “So now, to be headlining the 11th annual CMT tour with my buddies Love and Theft and Florida Georgia Line, it seems very surreal. I’m honored, and I can’t wait to hit the road in October and keep that feeling of summer going on the Summer Never Ends tour.”

Owen has had two number one singles so far this year, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” and “Alone With You.” He opened dates across the country on the aforementioned Brothers of the Sun tour.
