The American folk rock songwriter-singer and musician Jack Johnson was born in Oahu, Hawaii on May 18, 1975. Johnson is best known for his acoustic and soft rock music. He first achieved commercial success in 2001 after releasing Brushfire Fairytales, his debut album. Since then Johnson has released another four albums along with surfing soundtracks/movies and EPs. Jack Johnson also organizes the Kokua Festival every year. The festival helps to support environmental education in Hawaiian schools and communities.

Jack Johnson has sold more than 15 million worldwide albums. Sing-A-Longs and Lullabies for the Film Curious George is Johnson's highest selling album, which has shipped over 4 million worldwide albums. Notable songs from Jack Johnson include Better Together, You and Your Heart, If I Had Eyes, Sitting, Waiting, Wishing, Flake and Upside Down.

Johnson's five albums include 2001's Brushfire Fairytales, 2003's On and On, 2005's In Between Dreams, 2008's Sleep Through the Static and 2010's To the Sea. After releasing his third album, Johnson founded the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation which helps to promote environmental awareness and help children in Hawaii. From 2009 through 2010, the organization has raised over $750,000.
