Holiday Season Begins as Trans-Siberian Orchestra Schedules Winter Tour
Like clockwork, the coming of the holiday season brings a new round of holiday touring by the Tran-Siberian Orchestra, and the group has recently announced that this year’s festivities will kick off in mid-November.
This year’s jaunt will include the first-ever performance of the group’s 2004 rock-opera, The Lost Christmas Eve. The album is the final chapter in the band’s “Christmas Trilogy” and is described as a “heartwarming story of loss and redemption on a magical Christmas Eve in New York City.”
Multiple touring entities of the group will hit the road on November 15, with one group performing in Council Bluffs, Iowa that night, and another holding a concert in Peoria, Ill. As you might expect, the tour will run through the Christmas season, with the final show scheduled for December 30 in Columbus, Ohio and Milwaukee. The tour will hit most parts of North America in between those dates, including Seattle, Richmond, Las Vegas, Oklahoma City, Philadelphia and Dallas.
Of course, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra has long been know for their elaborate stage shows, and this show is promised to be no different.
“Each year’s show gets bigger, better and more spectacular,” reads a statement on the group’s website. “This year we’re touring with even more lights, lasers and pyrotechnics plus a few new surprises on the Flight Deck!”
The group also announced that they have teamed up with the Hallmark Channel, which will serve as the exclusive presenter of the new tour. The channel will be heavily visible at the shows of the tour, and in return have gained the right to use two classic Christmas songs for its annual “Countdown to Christmas.”
“Every year, fans of all ages identity the launches of Hallmark Channel’s ‘Countdown to Christmas’ programming and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s annual Christmas tour as the official start of the holiday season,” said Crown Media Family Networks CEO and President Bill Abbot. “These two separate holiday traditions, which center on quality entertainment through storytelling, are a perfect match.”
