Gorge to Host Watershed Music Festival with Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton
Country music husband and wife team Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert will be among the headliners at the first-ever Watershed Music Festival later this year.
The three-day country music event will take place August 3-5 at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington. Music festival enthusiasts will recognize the venue as the same place the annual Sasquatch Music Festival is held every year.
The event is being billed as the “Northwest’s premiere country music festival,” and has a lineup to back up the claim. In addition to Shelton and Lambert, other notable artists scheduled to appear include Dierks Bentley, Dwight Yoakam, Kix Brooks, Sara Evans, Uncle Kracker, Brantley Gilbert and Thompson Square. Additional artists are expected to be announced soon, and a local stage will feature acts from around the region.
Fans will be able to campout during the festival, and a statement from the organizer, Live Nation, says fans can expect “late night sets, impromptu jam sessions, collaborations and more.” Tickets for the event go on sale May 25, and will be limited to 25,000 fans.
Live Nation promoter Brian O’Connell spoke in a statement about why the Gorge Amphitheatre is such a great location for the event.
“The Gorge provides a feeling that is impossible to recreate anywhere else,” he said. “It is truly a magical place and provides the perfect setting for a cool, eclectic country event. We wanted to create something that didn’t exist, from the caliber of artists to the camping to the atmosphere. I’m excited to be a part of it and see it all come together.”
The Sasquatch Festival has been held at the amphitheatre every year since 2002, and takes advantage of its terraced lawn seating. Other festivals to be held at the venue include Lilith Fair, Vans Warped Tour, Ozzfest, Creation Festival and Area:One.
