Firefly Festival 2014 Features Jack Johnson, Foo Fighters, Weezer
The second week of January seems to be the week for music festivals to announce band lineups. Delaware’s Firefly Festival is the latest in a long line to unveil the first round of artists due to perform at their hallowed event later in June.
First on the bill includes the recently reunited Outkast, which will come as no surprise to the pair’s fans, after the duo announced that they were planning on playing over 40 festivals this summer. Previously, they confirmed headlining spots at Coachella and Governors Ball.
According to a video shared via the festival’s official YouTube page, Foo Fighters and Jack Johnson will occupy the other Firefly 2014 headlining duties. Other significant confirmed acts include Weezer, Imagine Dragons, Tegan & Sara, Chance the Rapper, Arctic Monkeys, Sleigh Bells, and the Lumineers.
Among the smaller acts are Local Natives, Cage the Elephant, Portugal. The Man, Pretty Lights, Grouplove, Kaiser Chiefs, Washed Out, Phantogram, Typhoon, A-Trak, Young the Giant, Wild Cub, White Denim, MS MR, Vic Mensa, Geographer, and Courtney Barnett.
According to the video, “over 65 more” acts will be announced soon.
Firefly Music Festival is set to take place between June 19th-22nd across the 154 acres of the Woodlands of Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware.
So far, Firefly is one of the first confirmed Foo Fighters dates for 2014, apart from a spot at a pre-Super Bowl show. Frontman Dave Grohl told Rolling Stone Magazine that the band are working on new material that is set to be “badass.”
He added, “We’re doing something that nobody knows about, it’s f–king rad. We begin recording soon, but we’re doing it in a way that no one’s done before and we’re writing the album in a way that I don’t think has been done before.”
I leave working out what on earth that means to you – comments are appreciated.
