Eminem Announces New Album for 2013 on His Hat
It looks like we can expect a new album from Eminem in 2013 – if a baseball cap is to be believed, that is.
Here’s the deal: Eminem’s official online store revealed a new item, a baseball cap in the style of those worn by the Detroit Tigers, though it features a backwards “E” instead of the Tigers’ “D.” More importantly, however, the hat also has each year listed that Em has released a solo album, ending with 2013.
The description of the hat reveals that the “Side panel is dedicated to the landmark Eminem solo albums. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Marshall Mathers Foundation.” No official title or release date has yet been revealed, but the new album will be the follow up to 2010’s Recovery.
Murmurs of a new Eminem album have been occurring since this summer when his Shady Records released an album by Slaughterhouse.
“We actually just finished the [Slaughterhouse] album last week,” Eminem told Billboard at the time. “Now I’ve got time to be able to start doing things for my own project.” He also gave a similar report to MTV News.
“I’ve actually kinda just started,” he said. I’ve been on the move a little bit too, so I’ve been in between things, sneak songs in here and there.”
Producer No I.D. spoke to MTV last month about plans for a new album.
“I definitely sat down and spoke with Eminem about working and we agreed to get in the studio and see what we could do,” No I.D. said. “He’s one of the best, I want to work with one of the best and try to give some music contributions. I think that would be one of the next steps in that lineage of what I’m trying to do.”
