Eddie Vedder Swings Through West, Florida on Spring Tour

As Pearl Jam gears up for a jam-packed summer full of headlining gigs and festival appearances in Europe, lead singer Eddie Vedder will spend a little time in the southern United States this spring for a solo tour.

The 13-date tour will begin, appropriately, at the Pearl in Las Vegas on April 11 and then wind its way through the southern half of America before finishing up in Orlando on May 16. Throughout the trek, Vedder will hit Phoenix, Ariz.; Albuquerque, N.M.; Tulsa, Okla.; Houston; San Antonio; Austin, Texas; Dallas; New Orleans; Jacksonville, Fla.; Clearwater, Fla. and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. The New Orleans date will be an appearance at the Jazz & Heritage Festival on May 3.

Vedder will be supporting his 2011 solo album, Ukulele Songs, which features original songs and covers played on the ukulele, as you might have guessed. The album is Vedder’s second solo studio album, with the first being the soundtrack for the Sean Penn film “Into the Wild.” He also released a live solo DVD, “Water on the Road,” last year.

Last summer, Vedder embarked on the first tour for Ukulele Songs with support of Frames singer and “Once” star Glen Hansard. It has been announced that Hansard will once again support Vedder for all shows of this tour.

Pearl Jam spent part of last year celebrating the twentieth anniversary of their debut album, Ten. Director Cameron Crowe released a rockumentary about the band called “Pearl Jam Twenty” last September in honor of the anniversary of the band. Culled from over 12,000 hours of video, the movie documents the history of the band from formation to April 2011. The film originally was screened at the Toronto Film Festival and other U.S. theaters in September 2011, and released on DVD and Blu-Ray the following month.
