Don Henley, the American songwriter, singer and drummer, was one of the founding members who formed the Eagles. He then went on to launch a highly successful solo career. From 1971 to 1980 Henley was the lead vocalist and drummer for the Eagles. Henley was the lead vocalist on Eagle hit songs like “The Long Run,” “Life In The Fast Lane,” “Hotel California,” “One Of These Nights,” “Best Of My Love,” “Desperado” and “Witchy Woman.” He and Glenn Frey formed a very successful songwriting partnership.
In 1980 after the break up of the Eagles, Henley went on to launch his solo career. In 1982 Henley's debut album was released. In total he has released two compilation albums, four studio albums and a live DVD. Solo hits of Henley's include “The End of the Innocence,” “New York Minute,” “Not Enough Love in the World,” “Sunset Grill,” “The Last Worthless Evening,” “The Heart of the Matter,” “All She Wants to Do Is Dance,” “The Boys of Summer” and “Dirty Laundry.”
More than 120 million worldwide Eagles albums have been sold. The band also has won a total of six Grammy Awards and have had six No. 1 albums, 17 singles in the Top 40 and five No. 1 singles. In 1998, they became members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They are the top selling American band. Henley, as a soloist, has sold more than 10 million worldwide albums, had eleven singles in the Top 40, and won five MTV Video Music and two Grammy Awards. Henley's combined solo artist and Eagles career has resulted in 28 singles in the Top 40 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. With the Eagles Henley released a total of seven studio albums as as a soloist four albums.
Henley has also been instrumental in the establishment of several political and environmental causes, including Walden Woods Project. Henley has performed as both a solo artist and member of the Eagles since 1994. Henley's fifth studio album is scheduled to be released in 2011.
