Deep Purple Joins with Symphony Orchestra for Upcoming Tour

Deep Purple will tour in North America for the first time in four years and will be doing it in a different way. They will be accompanied by a symphony orchestra at each venue save for one in San Francisco.

The tour is titled “Deep Purple: The Songs That Rock Built” and the added symphonic touch will deepen the traditional songs the British band is recognized for. Audiences will be in for a treat with the symphonic enhancement of the group’s classic tunes such as “Highway Star,” “My Woman From Tokyo,” and “Smoke On The Water.”

The tour will begin at the Casino Rama Entertainment Centre in Orilla, Ont. on June 3. On June 4, the group will perform at L’agora Du Vieux Port in Quebec City. June 6 will see them at the Place Des Arts in Montreal.

The band will begin its United States leg at the Wang Theatre in Boston on June 7. The other American dates are on June 8 at Mortensen Hall At The Bushnell in Hartford, Conn.; June 11 at the Tropicana Casino & Resort in Atlantic City; June 14, 15 at the Beacon Theatre in New York, June 17 at the Fox Theatre in Detroit; June 18 at the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park and June 14 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. The last performance is in San Francisco on June 15 and will be the one concert without the symphonic accompaniment.

Even though tickets for some of the concerts are already available, tickets for the Boston and Detroit shows will be available on April 1 and tickets for the Atlantic City show will be available on April 2. To get more information, visit DeepPurple.com.
