The American rock band Daughtry was formed in 2006 in North Carolina by Chris Daughtry, a season 5 finalist on “American Idol.” Band members include frontman Chris Daughtry (guitars, lead vocals), Robin Diaz (percussion, drums), Brian Craddock (backing vocals, rhythm guitar), Josh Steely (backing vocals, lead guitar) and Josh Paul (backing vocals, bass).

In 2006, the band released “Daughtry,” their debut album. The set was No. 1 on Billboard's Top 200 chart for two weeks and outsold the debut album of Taylor Hicks, that year's “Idol” winner. The album has sold over four million copies and Billboard named the set 2007's No. 1 selling album. For debut rock albums, it is the fastest-selling in the history of Soundscan. In 2007 “It's Not Over,” the album's first single, was eighth most played on U.S. radio. “Home,” the second single, was tenth most played.

“Leave This Town,” Daughtry's second album, was released in 2009. The set debuted in the No. 1 spot on Billboard's 200 chart and during its first week out sold 269,000 copies and was also number one on the Rock Chart and Digital Albums Chart. “No Surprise,” was the first single released, followed by “Life After You” and “September.” Daughtry is currently working on their third album.
