The American television host and stand-up comedian Daniel Tosh was born on May 29, 1975. He currently hosts “Tosh.O.”, a video clip show on Comedy Central.
Almost immediately after he graduated from college, Tosh started to tour the circuit of comedy clubs. In 1998, he appeared in Montreal at Just for Laughs. In 2000, his act was shown on television at Theatre Saint-Denis in Montreal. The first big break for Tosh in his career came with his performance in 2001 on “Late Show with David Letterman.” He followed up with appearances on other programs like the Comedy Central show “Premium Blend,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” In addition he hosted a Florida comedy late night show and was a spokesperson for Taco Bell in their commercials. Tosh had his own Comedy Central Presents special in 2003. “Daniel Tosh: Completely Serious” was aired by Comedy Central in June 2007. In addition, he hosted a “Live at Gotham” episode, a Comedy Central show. Tosh makes regular “The Bob & Tom Show” appearances. Recently, he had a small feature film role in “The Love Guru” which starred Mike Myers.
“Tosh.O,” his show on Comedy Central, showcases video clips from the internet. The program premiered June 5, 2009. Tosh's mocking humor is characterized as pushing the envelope, with punchlines that could be viewed as homophobic sexist or racist. He says he isn't racist or misogynistic but does find those types of jokes to be funny. “Tosh.0”is averaging 2.2 million viewers, more than the 200,000 views of “The Daily Show” and 800,000 viewers of “The Colbert Report.” The latest special from Tosh, “Happy Thoughts” aired March 6, 2011 on Comedy Central and was seen by 3.25 million viewers.
