The stand-up comedian and actor Dane Cook was born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 18, 1972. Cook has released a total of five comedy albums: “Isolated Incident,” “Rough Around The Edges: Live From Madison Square Garden,” “Vicious Circle,” “Retaliation” and “Harmful If Swallowed.” “”Retaliation” went platinum. In Fall 2006 Cook performed on an HBO special, “Rough Around the Edges, and in 2009 the Comedy Central special “Isolated Incident.”
Dane Cook was one of the very first comedians to have his own MySpace and personal webpage to help build his large fan base. In 2006, Salon.com described Cook as alarmingly popular.
Cook has also worked as an actor. Since 1997 he has made appearances in films, including “My Best Friend's Girl,” “Mr. Brooks,” “Dan in Real Life,” “Good Luck Chuck,” “Employee of the Month,” “Waiting” and “Mystery Men.”
The big comedy break for Dane Cook occurred in 1998 when the comedian made an appearance on “Premium Blend” on Comedy Central. In 2000, Cook had a “Comedy Central Presents” half hour special. Cook released “Harmful If Swallowed, his first CD/DVD, in 2003. The album went platinum. In 2005, “Retaliation,” Cook's second CD'DVD, was released. The album was certified double platinum. Dane Cook is scheduled to star in “Fat Pig” by Neil Labute on Broadway in 2011.
