Coldplay, Incubus, Offspring Join for KROQ Weenie Roast

KROQ will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its annual “Weenie Roast” festival by welcoming Coldplay, Incubus and the Offspring to Los Angeles for a day long festival next month.

Held at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Los Angeles, the KROQ-FM Weenie Roast y Fiesta will be held on Saturday, May 5 and will feature a host of notable bands along with the three headliners mentioned above. These include Pennywise, Angels & Airwaves, Garbage, Silversun Pickups, Grouplove, Awolnation, Dirty Heads, Walk the Moon and Of Monsters and Men.

The KROQ festival has long been known for featuring acts that are staples on its alt-rock radio station, and this year appears to be no different.

Prior to the event , Coldplay will play three nights at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on May 1, 2 and 4. All of those shows are sold out. Garbage also has a couple of sold out shows in Los Angeles on April 9 and 10. It seems the Weenie Roast is giving fans of these two bands that missed out on tickets before a second chance to check them out.

It appears the Silversun Pickups will use the event to promote its newest album, which will be released three days after the festival on May 8. Neck of the Woods will be the band’s third studio album, and has been preceded by the single “Bloody Mary.” At this points, the group’s tour schedule other than the Weenie Roast only consists of three other festival dates. No official announcement has come as to whether more dates are expected to be added.

Garbage also has an upcoming album, Not Your Kind of People, which will be released on May 14. The album will be the group’s fifth studio album, and their first since 2007’s Absolute Garbage. The KROQ date is a part of an extensive summer tour for the band that will kick off next Monday.
