The second studio album of the blue eyed singer Colbie Caillat, “Breakthrough,” is definitely living up to the name. The up-and-coming singer is anticipating a No. 1 debut next week on Billboard’s 200. She is also in the middle of preparing for a new upcoming headlining tour.

Caillat’s North American leg of her “Breakthrough World tour” will kick off in San Diego, CA at House of Blues on September 15. The 30 city circuit will close out in West Hollywood, CA at House of Blues October 27-28. Howie Day, songwriter and singer, will be providing supporting on Caillat’s North American leg.

Some highlights from the fall portion of the tour include performances at House of Blues on September 16-17 in Anaheim, CA; at McMenamins Crystal Ballroom on September 30 in Portland, OR; at Riviera Theatre on October 7 in Chicago, IL; at Roseland Ballroom on October 16 in New York, NY; and at Rialto Theatre on October 26 in Tucson, AZ.

Caillat’s 2009 itinerary will also include three concerts held in Canada. She will be at Commodore Ballroom on September 29 in Vancouver, BC; at Kool Haus on October 10 in Toronto, ON; and at Metropolis on October 11 in Montreal, QC.

The California native singer’s second album, “Breakthrough,” had a US release date of August 25 and was released a few days earlier in some of the international markets. A No. 1 debut is being projected by Billboard and sales are estimated at 90,000-100,000 units.

The debut album of Caillat’s, “Coco,” set a very high precedent. Since it was released July 2007, the album has gone onto to become certified double Platinum, with sales of around three million worldwide copies.

Caillat, in describing her songwriting process at her website said, if something is biting me, then I hold it in. That’s the type of person that I am. It all comes out in my songs. Things build up inside. Then I will end up writing three songs in one weekend. It is a release for me. It is just there. I don’t really choose what I want to write about.
