CMJ Music Marathon 2012 Set with GZA, The Walkmen

This year’s CMJ Music Marathon festival will feature the Walkmen, GZA and many, many more artists.

This year’s festival will be held from October 16 – October 20 in Manhattan and Brooklyn. In fact, over 80 venues spread across the two boroughs will play host to more than 1,300 artist performances.

The upcoming lineup was announced last night at a Artist Announcement Party at the Mercury Lounge in New York City. The newly released list of artists is billed as the “initial” announcement, so we can expect many additions to the lineup between now and the start of the festival.

Other notable artists that will performing as part of the CMJ Music Marathon include The Mountain Goats, The Love Language, Com Truise, Kimbra, Foxygen, Dent May. This year will mark the 32nd incarnation of the event that is billed as “the world’s most important platform for the discovery of new music.

In addition to the nightly music performances, the festival also plays host to a number of panels discussing different aspects of the music industry. The panels take place at the CMJ daytime headquarters on New York University’s Greenwich Village Campus. The events include “a wide array of panels featuring record label executives, radio producers, digital media specialists, journalists, musicians, and many other industry insiders,” according to the festival’s official website.

Of the many panels at this year’s festival, a few titles include “The Art of Creating a Superb Website for Musicians,” “The Cloud Hovers,” “The Third Party: How to Hire Out Help” and “Social Media Sobriety.”

Tickets for the festival range from $149 for a pass that allows access to all shows to $525 for a “Full Badge,” which also includes admission into all other events associated with the festival. A student version of the full badge is available for $315.
