Chris Cornell Unplugs the Guitar for Solo Tour
As the reunited Soundgarden continues building on their momentum built from their comeback last year and prepare for the March release of their live album, frontman Chris Cornell has started out 2011 by whittling down to the bare essentials. He will set out on a solo nationwide tour this spring. He will perform by himself with just his acoustic guitar.
The “Songbook Tour” of Cornell’s will be kicking off in Austin, Texas on April 1 and wrap up on May 6 in San Diego, CA. The hard rock songwriter-singer will perform a few select covers in addition to songs from his musical catalog, which means tunes from Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog and Audioslave are all likely to make their appearances.
Most likely Cornell got the inspiration for this tour in December 2009 while he was performing an intimate show in Los Angeles at the famous Hotel Cafe. Although none of the “Songbook Tour” venues are that small, there will be that certain intimacy of having just one guy playing his guitar. That is that type of personal experience Cornell is attempting to pull of with this trek before rocking out with the amps turned all the way up with Soundgarden.
