The American rock musician Chris Cornell was born on July 20, 1964 in Seattle, Washington. He is best known as Soundgarden's lead vocalist and was formally Audioslave's lead vocalist. Since 1998 he has also contributed to numerous soundtracks as well as his own solo work. Cornell is known for having a wide vocal range that spans in full voice at C2-G#5 and in falsetto to E6, along with powerful vocal belting. Cornell is also the frontman and founder of a one-off tribute band called Temple of the Dog that was dedicated to Andrew Wood, his former roommate. Cornell has released three solo albums: 1999's Euphoria Morning, 2007's Carry On, and 2009's Scream. Hit Parader ranked Cornell 4th on their Heavy Metal's All-time Top 100 Vocalists list. Cornell performed You Know My Name for Casino Royale, the 2006 James Bond film.

In addition to his three solo albums, Cornell has released five albums, two greatest hits sets and five EPs with Soundgarden, his first band. With Audioslave three albums were released and with the tribute band Temple of the Dog one album was released. Cornell produced a Screaming Trees album as well and one mixtape has featured his music.
