Chris Brown, the American R&B songwriter, singer, actor and dancer, was born in Tappahannock, Virginia on May 5, 1989. In 2005, he released his self-debut album “Chris Brown” when he was 16 years old. “Run It,” the featured hit single from the album, topped Billboard's Hot 100 chart. Brown became the first male singer to top the chart with his debut single since 1995 when Montell Jordan accomplished the feat. Over two million U.S. copies of the album have sold and the RIAA certified the set double Platinum.

In 2007, Brown released “Exclusive,” his second studio album. Two successful singles were spawned from the set. “Kiss Kiss” was Brown's second No. 1 U.S. hit and featured T-Pain. The second single was “With You,” which reached the No. 2 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. “Exclusive: The Forever Edition,” a deluxe version, was released and spawned the hit single “Forever,” which reached the No.2 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. The RIAA has certified “Exclusive” as Platinum. In December 2009 Brown released “Graffiti,” his third studio album that spawned the single “I Can Transform Ya,” which featured Swizz Beatz and Lil Wayne. The song peaked in the No. 22 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. The dance routines of Chris Brown's are often compared to Michael Jackson.

Brown in 2009 pleaded guilty on a felony assault charge brought by the singer Rihanna, who was his girlfriend at the time. He was sentenced with community service of six months and five years probation. The incident received widespread attention in the media and had a negative affect on his entertaining and singing career. Brown released “F.A.M.E.,” his fourth album, in 2011.
