Childish Gambino Gets Tangled in ‘Deep Web’ Tour
Childish Gambino has just announced that he’s due to head out on the road next month on a tour he’s eerily titled the ‘Deep Web Tour.’
The 30-year-old rapper is embarking on the jaunt in support of his second album, Because the Internet.
Gambino aka Donald Glover made the announcement on his Twitter page and provided a link to a virtual spoof web chat with former adult film actress Abella Anderson. After you’ve entered the website, you type the word “tickets” into the chat box, after which you are redirected to the tour’s official website.
The 22-city North American trek will kick off on February 27th in Oakland, California, and will see the rapper hit major cities such as San Diego, Houston, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Atlanta and Las Vegas before wrapping up in Los Angeles on May 3rd.
That’s it for the actual, confirmed tour dates, folks, but in rumor-land, Gambino may make further appearances at the 2014 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which runs April 11th-13th and April 18th-20th in Indio, California, as if you didn’t already know.
Childish Gambino’s second studio full length Because the Internet was released just last month and features guest appearances from Chance the Rapper, Jhene Aiko and Azealia Banks. The 19-track set includes the previously released singles, “3005″ and “The Worst Guys.”
Contrary to Gambino’s mad fascination with the internet, [Exhibit A: his moniker was produced by a Wu-Tang name generator. Exhibit B: The names of his album and tour. Exhibit C: His album and tour promotional campaigns] said concerts are not expected to take place in cyberspace, with each date occupying a real space and time within actuality, which is nice for his fans who are quite attached to their spatiotemporal existence and like to exercise it once in a while.
