Chauffeurs, Do Not Look Katy Perry in the Eyes

It’s pretty common for artists, particularly famous pop singers, to itemize what their specific needs and wants are in the tour rider. However, the 45-page rider of Katy Perry’s, the “Teenage Dream” icon, is extremely detailed. She even specifies a refrigerator with a glass door as well as a bouquet of flowers with no carnations at any time. Also, don’t look at her either.

The concert rider of Perry’s is very specific in terms of what chauffeurs are and are not allowed to do. One thing they can’t do is stare at her. Her drivers are not allowed to chat with her or even glance at her through the rear view mirror as they are driving.

For her dressing room, Perry asks for purple and white hydrangeas, white and pink roses and peonies. However, she’s not that particular. When those are not available she will accept white flowers in season which include white orchids. However, no carnation — she has that underlined for emphasis. Very specific furniture is also required such as modern coffee tables, egg chairs that are cream colored.

She can also scalp tickets her concerts when she wants to. Perry’s rider is quite specific when it comes to venues holding tickets to give to her crew. However, it isn’t so they will get the best seats to sit in. These special tickets are given to resellers so they can distribute them to the public over the secondary market — in other words, scalping.

When it comes to being environmentally responsible, she does win points. Instead of having to throw away endless bottles of water, Perry specifies water dispensers are needed along with a particular sustainable aluminum water bottle brand for her and her entire staff.

In keeping with her fame, Perry needs to sleep in only 5 star hotels on 5 star pillows. What else would you expect from a pop diva?

On June 7, the 2011 edition of Katy Perry’s “California Dreams Tour” will kick off in Atlanta, Georgia.
