Ozzy Osborne Recruits Slash for Host of 2011 Tour Dates

Just in case the upcoming tour of Ozzy Osbourne’s didn’t seem crazy enough, there’s an extra incentive now. Slash will be opening for Prince of Darkness on Osbourne’s recently announced winter leg. This isn’t Guns N’ Roses or Black Sabbath, but it’s close. Right?

The duo will kick off on January 16 in Omaha, NE. The entourage from there will be traveling to Texas and then onto California before ending up on February 22 in Florida.

Since Osbourne made an appearance on “Crucify The Dead,” a track on the solo album of Slash’s, you can expect they will perform it together. That should be awesome. However I have another request for Ozzy. Can we get Slash to perform on “Crazy Train?”

In an interview with the Irish Times Paul McGuinness, U2 manager, said a new album from U2 should be released early next year.

McGuinness said, I am expecting a new album from U2 sooner than people think. My guess is early 2011, right before their next American tour leg which begins in May.

U2′s new album has a tentative title of “Songs of Ascent.”

Cornershop Jumps the Pond to Tour US

Cornershop, the Indie rockers, will perform in U.S. clubs to support their new EP of four songs due to be released next month. It will be the first American tour for the British band in eight years.

Cornershop, which consists of seven band members, will be kicking off their US outing in Seattle with a performance on November 11. Eight other club shows will follow in a time span of ten days. The trek will wrap up in Carrboro NC on November 21.

The band’s digital four song EP, “The Battle of New Orleans,” will be released on November 2. It will include a remix of “Soul School,” a previously released single. The song can be heard at Cornershop’s website.

U2 Wraps Up 2011 North American Leg with Pittsburgh Show

With Bono almost in full recovery after going through an intensive emergency back surgery last summer, U2 has just finalized the North American leg of their 360° world tour which had to be postponed due to the lead singer’s medical condition.

As previously announced, the North American slate which was originally set for last summer is now moved to spring-summer of next year with a show in Denver’s Invesco Field at Mile High on May 21, 2011 to kick things off. The kick-off show follows the band’s two-night stint in Mexico City, Mexico on May 14 and 15.

John Mellencamp Schedules 2011 Concert Tour

With a new top 10 album under his belt, folk country icon John Mellencamp has just laid out a new batch of tour dates that will have him rally through the east coast with select stops in the south from February to March 2011. These dates are the latest additions to the heartland rocker’s first slew of tour dates this fall.

The winter-spring leg of Mellencamp’s “No Better than This” tour will kick off in Lowell, MA on February 3 followed by a string of stops in Canada, NYC’s Radio City Music Hall and intimate gigs in Philadelphia, Richmond and Durham before finally heading off to the south with shows in Columbia, SC, Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale, Clearwater, FL and finally in Jacksonville on March 5 to wrap things up.

Tickets for the 2011 tour will be available starting on October 15 except for tickets for the NYC show, which will be available on the 16th instead. Ticket prices are expected to go from $40 to $50 as posted on Ticketmaster.com.

After more than a decade of quiescence, prominent alt-rock fixtures Grant Lee Buffalo will return to the touring scene to jam with their most loyal fans and with themselves as well, after spending the last ten years doing solo projects.

The trio, composed of Grant-Lee Phillips, Joey Peters and Paul Kimble will be pounding the pavement starting on December with a set of intimate gigs starting in Seattle on December 9 to kick things off. The short tour will include stops in Portland, OR, California, London, Glasgow and finally in New York’s Bowery Ballroom in February 2011 to wrap things up.

Disturbed Axes US Concert Tour

Heavy metal icons Disturbed were forced to pull the plug off the US slate of their “Taste of Chaos” tour due to a throat condition that has kept their front man David Draiman in bad shape and unable to perform for four weeks, as per his doctor’s orders, according to a report by the Boston Globe.

The next four weeks that will now be devoted to Draiman’s recuperation, who was found to have a serious but treatable throat illness, will essentially cover the entire US leg of the band’s tour. No word yet from Live Nation, promoter of the said trek, if the US dates will be moved to later this year or early next year after the band wraps up their European trek or if it will be entirely canceled. As for those who have purchased their tickets for the US dates, an announcement still also has to be made concerning the new development and if ticket refunds will be available.
