The band’s management issued a statement that said, although we want to apologize to everybody who was planning to attend the show, this tough decision was made with concern and great affection for our loyal fans from the region.

Grant Lee Buffalo Back Together and Hitting the Road

After more than a decade of quiescence, prominent alt-rock fixtures Grant Lee Buffalo will return to the touring scene to jam with their most loyal fans and with themselves as well, after spending the last ten years doing solo projects.

The trio, composed of Grant-Lee Phillips, Joey Peters and Paul Kimble will be pounding the pavement starting on December with a set of intimate gigs starting in Seattle on December 9 to kick things off. The short tour will include stops in Portland, OR, California, London, Glasgow and finally in New York’s Bowery Ballroom in February 2011 to wrap things up.

Disturbed Axes US Concert Tour

Heavy metal icons Disturbed were forced to pull the plug off the US slate of their “Taste of Chaos” tour due to a throat condition that has kept their front man David Draiman in bad shape and unable to perform for four weeks, as per his doctor’s orders, according to a report by the Boston Globe.

The next four weeks that will now be devoted to Draiman’s recuperation, who was found to have a serious but treatable throat illness, will essentially cover the entire US leg of the band’s tour. No word yet from Live Nation, promoter of the said trek, if the US dates will be moved to later this year or early next year after the band wraps up their European trek or if it will be entirely canceled. As for those who have purchased their tickets for the US dates, an announcement still also has to be made concerning the new development and if ticket refunds will be available.

Solomon Burke Dies in Amsterdam Airport

Legendary singer/songwriter Solomon Burke, best remembered for his works for songs like “Cry to Me” which was played in the 1987 classic chick flick “Dirty Dancing” and “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love” which was popularized by Wilson Pickett, the Rolling Stones and the Blues Brothers, died today at the Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam at age 70.

He was arriving from Los Angeles and he was in the country for a show in one of the famous Dutch clubs scheduled on Tuesday night. The cause of death is still yet to be determined according to airport officials.

Weezer Announce Fall Concert Tour Dates

Two months after alt-rock act Weezer laid out their plan to spend the colder months ahead on the road, the band has now released more details about the said trek initially dubbed as the “Blinkerton Tour”.

After the band wraps up a couple of gigs in the south (Voodoo Festival in New Orleans on October 29 and Chastain Park in Atlanta on October 30), the “Teenage Dirtbag” rockers will be performing two of their best selling and most acclaimed albums, from cover to cover for two nights in four cities throughout fall and early winter. They will be coursing through Universal City, CA on November 26 and 27, San Francisco on November 29 and 30, New York on December 17 and 18, and finally, Chicago on January 7 and 8, 2011.

On the first night of each stop, they will be playing all cuts from their 1994 eponymous debut release which also carries the title “Blue Album”, followed by another cover to cover set, this time from their 1996 record, “Pinkerton”, such is the initial title for the tour. The band will also sprinkle on both nights, a dash of new tracks from their current release, “Hurley”.

Badly Drawn Boy Launches International Tour to Support New Album

English pop-rocker Badly Drawn Boy or Damon Gough in real life will be hitting the road this season starting next week after being off the music radar for three years. He will be introducing the first of his forthcoming trilogy set, the “It’s What I’m Thinking” series, during his European and US tour. The first album is entitled “It’s What I’m Thinking Pt. 1 – Photographing Snowflakes”.

Gough will first tackle a handful of European dates starting off with a slew of shows in his native United Kingdom including Stockton on October 13 to kick things off, Nottingham on the 15th, Scarborough on the 16th, Holmfirth on the 17th, Glasgow on the 20th, Bristol on the 25th and two-nighters in Manchester on October 21 and 22, and London on October 27 and 28.

Come November, Gough can be seen cruising through Italy, Germany, Austria, The Netherlands, and finally in Belgium where his European slate comes to a close on November 23. He’ll be flying to the US on December for a 10-city trek which will take him from coast to coast through the first half of the month with a show in Boston on December 1 to open the US leg and closing with a two-nighter in West Hollywood in the 15th and 16th. The leg also features another two-night gig for the artist, on December 3 and 4 in New York.

Class Action Lawsuit Springs Up to Fight Ticketmaster Fees

A new website has been launched by the legal team bringing a class action lawsuit regarding the fees charged by Ticketmaster in order to attract additional plaintiffs to their case.

The site is named Ticket Fee Litigation. It details the case, filed originally in 2003. It says residents of the U.S. who purchased tickets from Ticketmaster.com during the time period of October 21, 1999 to May 31, 2010 are potentially eligible to participate in the lawsuit.

The case was filed by plaintiffs on October 21, 2003. The class action case is proceeding on behalf of residents of the United States. The claim challenges the Order Processing Fee of Ticketmaster’s as well as the fee charged when customers who were U.S. residents chose the option for UPS Delivery at www.ticketmaster.com during the time period of October 21, 1999 to May 21, 2010. The site states that the notice is for advising people about their class action law suit, including individuals’ rights that are connected with the case. The notice isn’t intended to express any Court opinion or merits of any defenses or claims in the case.

Mannheim Steamroller Decks the Halls with Holiday Concerts

Musical ensemble Mannheim Steamroller will be going on a thorough tour to spread the holiday cheer from coast to coast over the next two months. The group, led by Jackson Berkey and Chip Davis, will be stretching themselves over almost eighty cities to perform holiday inspired cuts from their top selling Christmas releases, 1984’s “Mannheim Steamroller Christmas” which marked their debut set and their sophomore release, 1988’s “A Fresh Aire Christmas”.

With a very extensive itinerary ahead of them, the group will divide themselves with one half working their way in the east, with Gainesville, FL as its first stop while the other half simultaneously cruises through the west starting in Greely, CO. Both legs of the tour will kick off on November 11. The tour also includes two-day stops in Minneapolis and Pittsburgh, both on December 3 and 4, Des Moines on December 20 and 21, Milwaukee on December 22 and 23, and Dallas on December 26 and 27. Although more than half of the dates will entail simultaneous bicoastal shows with the last of the paired shows scheduled on December 19 in Aurora, IL and Louisville, KY, the band will tie up the loose ends as the tour converges towards one final stop, Macon, GA on December 30.

Detroit native and self-proclaimed “Badass” country rocker Kid Rock proved to his hometown that he may be what he has proclaimed himself to be sometimes, but not when his hometown and its very own Lions badly needs his help and star power.

The NFL held the local TV broadcast of the Lions’ home game on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams hostage unless the Detroit franchise would be able to sell all of its game tickets not later than 12 midnight on Friday. The deadline was moved from the original deadline of Thursday, 1 PM by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
