Whitney Houston may be making her return on the big screen soon.
According to Entertainment Weekly, currently the singer is in discussions to make an appearance in a remake of “Sparkle,” the 1976 film based loosely on The Supremes.
Jordin Sparks already is on board to appear in the film. She will play the title character.
On Monday night at the “I Don’t Know How She Does It” premiere in New York City, Sparks said, it follows three sisters basically who get a group started. However Sparkle, the character I am playing, goes through a series of conflicts. She wants to really do the music. However it is tearing apart her family. I am really excited.
The former “American Idol” contestant has started to prepare for her role already and will be ready in October. However, don’t expect Jordin to permanently leave music in favor of the big screen.
She said, my lifeline is music. I will always do that. There is music involved in this movie. That’s the great thing about it. It isn’t a musical. However, it does have musical numbers in it.
The last time Whitney Houston made a big screen appearance was in 1996 in the film “The Preacher’s Wife” opposite Denzel Washington.
Too bad Denmark let Whitney Houston into the country. The Copenhagen Post reported that several hundred fans left Houston’s concert early on Friday when her voice failed to deliver as promised. One reviewer at least gave her effort zero stars.
According to Copenhagen Post, reviewers from all the major media outlets in Denmark blasted the concert. Fans also booed when Houston was speaking about the deceased Michael Jackson.
The zero stars critic from Berlingske Tidende newspaper wrote in his review that Houston sounded and looked like someone who didn’t have a lot years left for living. By the end of the concert she appeared ready to explode.
The newspaper’s photo gallery is full of pictures that are less than flattering of Houston onstage.
