Trent Reznor, who made a promise that his decision for retiring Nine Inch Nails out of the tour circuit didn’t mean his musical output would come to an end. He is keeping his word.
A few weeks following the release of a debut EP from How To Destroy Angels, his new band featuring singer Mariqueen Maandig (his wife) and musician/producer Atticus Ross, an announcement has been made that Reznor and Ross are finishing a score for a new movie.
Reznor in a message he posted on Nine Inch Nails website said, I had planned to take time off following the continuous touring that came to an end last fall so I could spend a year experimenting and see what How To Destroy Angels would become along with some new Nine Inch Nails. Things didn’t really work out.
Director David Fincher began to ask about whether I would be interested in scoring for “The Social Network,” his upcoming file. It’s about Facebook being founded.
I always have loved David’s work. However I was curious about what attracted him to telling that story. Then I read the script. I realized what it was about. That’s when I kissed my free time goodbye. Atticus Ross and I had been on a really creative roll. I asked if he would like to work with me on this. We signed on.
I’m happy to say, months later we are almost finished. I could not be any happier with the way it has turned out. David’s level of excellence that he operates from is very inspiring. The whole process has been truly enjoyable and challenging.
Reznor added that he and Ross wrote enough music for creating one or two satisfying records. The complete score will be surfacing a few weeks ahead of the movie’s screening on October 1.
The film is great. And very dark, he added.
The movie’s official website has a trailer of the film streaming.
