On May 2, Thursday and Taking Back Sunday officially announced they will tour together in summer 2011. Their six week outing across North America will kick off in Denver, CO on June 14 and wrap up on July 31 in Chicago, IL.
Colour Revolt will be the main support act during the entire tour for Thursday and Taking Back Sunday. The New Regime from June 14 through July 5 will also be part of the bill. We Are The In Crowd from July 8 through July 31 will provide support for all three bands.
The American rockers Taking Back Sunday are touring to support their fifth self-titled studio album. Warner Bros will be releasing the set on June 28, 2011. Thursday, the American rock/post-hardcore band, is touring to support “No Devolucion,” their sixth album. It was released via Epitaph on April 12, 2011.
Thursday and Taking Back Sunday both rose to fame within the same time frame. Thursday made their mark after releasing “Full Collapse” in 2001 and “War All the Time” in 2003. Taking Back Sunday gained notoriety after releasing their debut album “Tell All Your Friends” in 2002 and their follow up set “Where You Want to Be” in 2004.
The new album from Taking Back Sunday will be their first release since John Nolan (vocals/guitar) and Shaun Cooper (bass) re-joined the band. Cooper and Nolan left the band in 2003 and formed Straylight Run. The band in April 2010 announced Cooper and Nolan were once again members of Taking Back Sunday’s ever changing line-up.
Taking Back Sunday, with a restored lineup that features two members who have not toured since 2003 with the band, will be heading out next month for several dates on the road.
The band will kick off their outing of six cities in Sayreville, NJ on June 22. On June 23, they will be in New York City, on June 24 Philadelphia, on June 25 Boston and June 27 Chicago. They will wrap the road trip up in Los Angeles on June 29. On May 5, a VIP pre-sale will start for the dates. General on-sales will start on March 8. The band’s website contains additional information.
The band from Long Island features Adam Lazzara, vocalist, Eddie Reyes, guitarist, and Mark O’Connell, drummer. They are reuniting with John Nolan, founding member and vocalist/guitarist, as well as Shaun Cooper, bassist. Cooper and Nolan left the band after “Tell All Your Friends,” the 2002 debut album from Taking Back Sunday.
After the tour, the band this summer will hit the recording studio to work with producer Eric Valentine on their fifth studio album. It will follow “New Again,” their set from last year.
Lazzara said, we’re very excited being able to play our songs with this lineup in front of our fans. Before we go make a new record we have a few shows to play. All the venues have a special meaning for us. We have lots of support in all those cities.
Nolan said, we will be backstage, jumping around waiting to get out there. It will be amazing be able to share the excitement we’ve been feeling with an audience.
