Shakira published “World School Day Adventure,” her very first children’s book.  It is another book in the series “Dora the Explorer.”

In the story Dora and Boots, her companion, go around delivering school supplies to the needy.

Shakira said she wanted children from all parts of the world to know that education and knowledge can help them embark on grand adventures.  She added, Dora inspires children all over the world.  Working with Nickelodeon was an honor to write the story to educate children.  It’s a cause that is very near and dear to my heart.

Nickelodeon’s Paul Allen praised Shakira.  She said, it’s been an incredible experience working with Shakira on creating an enriching and educational story.

Part of the royalties from the book will go to Pies Descalzos Foundation, a non-profit organization of Shakira’s which is dedicated to the education of children.

With barely a month left before this year’s MTV European Music Awards set foot in Madrid, two more chart topping artists sizzle into the line-up as performers for the said event.

Fresh from a successful year, UK based rapper Plan B will be performing and is also vying for Best Video honors for his single “Prayin’”. Known all over the continent for his rock smashing live shows, Plan B’s performance is one of the much anticipated highlights at the upcoming awards show.

Also now slated to perform for the November 7 event is Shakira who is coming off the heels from the success of her 2010 World Cup single “Waka Waka” which was a big shaker in the European charts.  Not only is she in the race for Best Female honors for the night but she is also expected to sample a single from her new release “Sale el Sol”.

The two artists will join Linkin Park who is also armed with a new album and a new chart topping single, “The Catalyst”, country rocker Kid Rock, Kings of Leon who is also backing up their new release “Come Around Sundown”, and one of this year’s biggest artists, “Teenage Dream” singer Katy Perry.

As for the slate of presenters, aside from MTV resident pranksters Johnny Knoxville and The Dudesons, and Disney baby Emily Osment, Pauly D from reality show “Jersey Shore”, which is now on its third season, will also be presenting an award.

Spearheading the event is everyone’s favorite desperate housewife, Eva Longoria.

Apparently the mile a minute hips of Shakira broke Spain’s speed limit after the sexy Latina singer stalled traffic downtown in Barcelona while she was taping a sexy scene that will be featured in a new video of hers.

Crowds were going wild over her show.  However uptight Spanish officials didn’t find it amusing.  Reportedly they are considering fining Shakira for her actions.  She never obtained a permit.

A terse city council member said to reporters, in Barcelona asking for permission you are able to take this type of footage and not have problems.

The location of the sexy dance was at the Pla de Palau’s famous fountain in downtown Barcelona.  A clip on YouTube, of all things, tipped authorities off.

The council member stated, we will be analyzing the images to see if any infringements were made during the recording.

There are strict anti-social behavior laws in Spain.  They can be interpreted broadly to mean just about anything.  That includes dancing at a fountain while wearing a skimpy outfit.

Shakira, according to reports, was riding a Harley Davidson as well for the shooting and not wearing a helmet.  In Spain that’s another no no.

The video being filmed was for “Loca,” her song that features her and Dizzee Rascal singing a duet.  It is one of the new tracks from “Sale El Sol,” Shakira’s new album.  The set is due out in November.

A release date has been secured by Shakira for her upcoming studio album “Sale El Sol.”  The singer, according to Billboard, will be dropping her new album on November 2 across the United States.

Reportedly Pitbull and Calle 13 are featured guests on the set.  Additional information regarding the set is still under wraps.  However it has been confirmed by Shakira that this winter she will map an interactive tour out.  She is promising the forthcoming “Tour of Earthly Delights” is going to be a unique experience.

Shakira said my show will have themes with plenty of audience interaction.  There will be lots of dancing.  When I’m on stage I feel so free.  Performing is a big rush.  I like seeing everyone’s reactions and faces while I’m on stage.  Usually the only thing you are able to see is the first row due to the lights.  There will be lots of energy from me, and also there will other artistically energetic moments in the performance.  I want people feeling these things up close.

On September 15 the tour will be kicking off in Montreal, Quebec and will wrap up in London on December 20.  Shakira’s touring life for this tour will be filmed and featured on “Katy Brand Meets,” a new reality series from the UK.

It has been revealed that Shakira’s world tour will be interactive to allow her more intimacy with her fans.

Shakira’s “Tour of Earthly Delights” will be directed by Felix Barrett of Punchdrunk Theatre.  His productions allow audience members to select what they want to watch and also where they go.

In the Daily Star Shakira said, this December I will work with Felix in the UK.  He has a gold mind.  I will be designing my show with him.

It will have themes with lots of audience interaction, she added.

The previous theatre productions from Barrett have allowed audiences to walk around stage.  He said, it’s importance that the audience be theatre’s most important aspect.  They should be given more power than anything they have experienced ever before.

Shakira seems to agree.  She said, my live show is going to have lots of that.  It will be a joie de vivre with lots of dancing.

On stage I feel so much freedom.  To perform is such a rush.  I like seeing everyone’s faces on stage and see their reactions.  Usually due to the lights you are only able to see just the first row.

Shakira continued, you are going to see lots of energy like when I performed at Glastonbury Festival.  However there will also be other artistically energetic moments I hope.  I want the audience to be able to experience things up close.

I gather influences from different places and then combine them into my own style.

Shakira also revealed she is hoping to perform with The XX.  She covered their track “Island” during her set at Glastonbury, and said I love their songs mood.

Initial dates have been announced for Shakira’s 2010 world tour to support “She Wolf,” her latest album released last year. The outing will be the singer’s first return to North America since 2006.

The trek will kick off at Madison Square Garden in New York City on September 21. At this point, the only other confirmed appearances are for a Houston concert on October 8 and Los Angeles appearance on October 23. According to Shakira’s publicist, more dates are going to be announced shortly.

Members of Shakira’s fan club will have first chance to buy tickets for the three announced shows during a pre-sale exclusive event. It started on May 3. Starting on March 4 Citi card members will be given pre-sale ticket access. Shakira’s official website contains additional ticket sales information.

On May 7, the general public will be able to purchase tickets. According to a recent press release, Shakira is setting aside limited numbers of seats at each venue to be priced at $9.50 to help ensure that tickets are affordable for all the fans.

Shakira continues to support “She Wolf” her set from last year, sixth studio album overall, and third English language record. The album peaked on Billboard’s 200 chart at No. 15. In Spain and several countries in Latin American it has reached platinum or gold status.

In February, the most recent single from the album, “Gypsy,” hit radio airwaves. The song’s video, directed by Jaume De Laiguana, longtime collaborator of Shakira’s, features the singer cavorting with Rafael Nadal, the Spanish tennis star.

Shakira said, it was a great experience shooting the video along with Rafa. He’s very sweet. It was fun and easy. We have a lot in common. We both started so young with our careers and traveled the world. I thought that would translate the song lyrics’ spirit. I was thrilled that he wanted to participate in it.

Shakira has recently unveiled the initial details for her upcoming world tour which will kick off late this year in the US.

Among the confirmed dates are: September 21 in Madison Square Garden in New York City, October 8 in Houston and October 23 in Los Angeles. An announcement is yet to be made for additional dates and venues.

Tickets will hit the box office on May 7. The earliest access to tickets will be available to members of Shakira’s fan club today, May 3, at noon. Citi cardholders can avail of presale tickets beginning tomorrow, May 4 at 10 AM. The artist will also offer limited low-priced seats for only $9.50 in all of her shows, to make sure that her fans who are in a tight budget can still see her perform live.

“Gypsy” is the latest single to be released from the “She Wolf” album. The track premiered in radio stations last February. The song’s music video features Shakira cozying up with Spanish tennis champ Rafael Nadal, reminiscent of the Enrique Iglesias – Anna Kournikova on-screen frolicking for the video “Escape”. Shakira, 33, was reported to be delighted to be working with Nadal, 23, with whom she has “so much in common” with.

“She Wolf” is Shakira’s third all-English record and her follow up to 2005’s “Oral Fixation Vol.2”. “She Wolf” has earned both gold and platinum statuses in various Hispanic countries, including Spain. It landed on the 15th spot in Billboard’s Hot 200 upon its release last year.

You’ll know when a political matter is indeed controversial when even pop stars join the quest to crush the matter to the ground. Because apparently, the power of the new leader of the free world – Barack Obama – is not enough to re-examine the legality of the new immigration law that is about to be implemented in Arizona this summer.

The new law which authorizes Arizona policemen to question the legality of entry of those who have crossed the US border is actually raising eyebrows, to be more specific, Latina pop star Shakira’s eyebrows, as the new law may lead to racial profiling which as we all know, is inhumane and undignified.

Shakira headed to Phoenix yesterday to talk with the city’s mayor and sheriff to be more enlightened about the new law. She also met with the city’s Hispanic community.

In an interview with CNN, she said that she herself could be jailed since she is “completely undocumented” in the US, which just shows how stiff and unruly the new law could be for Arizona’s Hispanic settlers and mere visitors.

Maybe Shakira’s “hips” – which don’t lie – can shake some sense into Arizona’s lawmakers. If Shakira, Pres. Obama, and the entire Phoenix Suns ain’t enough, then we might see a whole new episode of celebrities rallying for a political cause, and something tells me that might do the trick.

“Time for Africa” — this is the theme for the upcoming World Cup in South Africa. Shakira and Cape Town band Freshlyground collaborated to do the song which will be released on April 26.

They will be performing the song live on June 10 at the World Cup kick off concert in Soweto, then again on the event’s opening ceremonies and closing ceremonies.

FIFA and Sony have entered into a partnership to deliver the World Cup coverage in 3D. To be specific, they will be broadcasting 25 matches from the sporting event plus the music video for “Time for Africa” in 3D.

Sony Music Entertainment is pleased to work with FIFA and World Cup host country South Africa for the song “Time for Africa” as its official music distributor. In a statement released recently, Sony describes “Time for Africa” as “both thrilling and inspiring” and is the “ideal theme song” for a sporting event such as the World Cup where fans are passionately rooting behind their team or country and the song “perfectly captures these emotions”.

Shakira and Freshlyground’s “Time for Africa” will be included in the “Listen Up: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Album” compilation which features other singles by international and African artists. To be released by Sony Music, it is slated to hit the market in the coming weeks before the World Cup officially kicks off.

Meanwhile, 2010 will prove to be a busy year for Shakira as she is bound to release a Spanish record sometime this year and is also prepping up for a world tour which will be launched this year as well, details of which are yet to be announced. Freshlyground on the other hand, is also slated to release their fourth studio record this May.

Latin music star Shakira is bound to release her newest single entitled “Gypsy”. The song is expected to hit the airwaves in April.

The music video for the song is also making news as Shakira follows Enrique Iglesias’ footsteps of starring in their own music video with a tennis pro – Spanish tennis champ Rafael Nadal. You can see them holding hands, snuggle up on a rock, and glare at each other sexily in the video for “Gypsy”.

However, unlike Enrique and female tennis hottie Anna Kournikova who continued to date after the cameras rolled, Shakira and Nadal’s sweetness can and will only transpire on camera. Both are in different relationships at the moment. According to the Daily Mail, Rafael Nadal is in a relationship with his high school flame while Shakira will soon walk down the aisle with Argentina’s former first son, Antonio de la Rua, son of former president Fernando de la Rua.
