Rocklahoma, the Oklahoma festival taking place this Memorial Day Weekend, has announced a lineup featuring headliners Rob Zombie, Creed and Chickenfoot.

The festival will take place May 25-27 in Pryor, Okla., which is near Tulsa. The recently announced lineup features a slew of rock acts including Megadeth, P.O.D., Chevelle, The Darkness, Theory of a Deadman, Puddle of Mudd, Falling in Reverse and former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash.

This year marks the sixth annual presentation of the festival that began by featuring lineups made up of purely ‘80s hair metal bands. Two years ago, the lineup expanded to include a mix of new rock, classic rock and metal.

Though the festival is only three days long, the grounds where it will be held will be open for camping from May 20 to May 29. Campers must purchase camping tickets in addition to their concert tickets. Campers are allowed access to a 60-unit shower facility, restrooms and a 24-hour convenience store. All campgrounds feature 24-hour security.

On May 24 a pre-party will be held for those already camping. Bands performing at the pre-party event include Jamco Industries, Delay the Day, Aformatic, TwoFold, Baron Von Swager, Back From Ashes, Tiranico and Fist of Rage.

The main event will feature four stages, and the main stage will feature emcee Eddie Trunk of VH1 Classic’s “That Metal Show.” In all, more than 70 bands will perform at the festival.

Chickenfoot will be performing in support of their most recent album, Chickenfoot III, which was released last September. Despite the misleading title, the album is actually the supergroup’s second record. Chickenfoot is made up of former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony, along with guitarist Joe Satriani and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

Headliner Creed has been rumored to be working on a new album, though no official announcements have been made.

Rob Zombie and Megadeth will embark on a co-headlining tour this spring that, as Rob Zombie’s website puts it, is “guaranteed to raise the temperature on the planet.” The trek marks the first time the two metal acts have toured together.

The short tour will keep the bands busy for the last half of May this year, and will kick off in Holmdel, N.J. on May 11 at the PNC Bank Arts Center. The tour will continue through May 26 when the band plays the Rocklahoma Festival Pryor, Okla. The trek also will hit Scranton, Penn.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Columbus, Ohio; La Crosse, Wisc.; Sioux City, Iowa and Wichita, Kansas. The Columbus show will be a part of the Rock on the Range festival, which also will feature Incubus, Marilyn Manson and Shinedown, among others.

Megadeth will be supporting its most recent album, Thirteen (or TH1RT3EN, as it is written on the cover), which was released last November. That album is, fittingly, the band’s 13th studio record, and the first the group has released since 2003’s Endgame. A song from the album, “Public Enemy            No. 1” was nominated for the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance award at this year’s Grammy Awards show. Thirteen debuted at number 11 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

The band currently is on a tour known as the Gigantour along with Motorhead, Volbeat and Lacuna Coil. That North American tour will run through next month, and after the shows with Rob Zombie, the band will travel to Europe, where they will tour for most of June.

Though Rob Zombie hasn’t released an album since 2010’s Hellbilly Deluxe 2, he has been busy with various movie projects. His latest project has been filming his sixth feature film, “The Lords of Salem,” which is now in postproduction and is due out later this year.

Slayer, Rob Zombie Introduce North America to Metal

Slayer, Rob Zombie Introduce North America to Metal

Slayer the legendary thrash kings, and Rob Zombie, the shock rock frontman, are joining forces to deliver hellfire and brimstone this summer out on the road on their appropriately named co-headlining tour “Hell On Earth.” The North American outing will be the first time the guys and Zombie have shared a billing since the 1999 Ozzfest. Expect the amps to cranked up to 11.

The 12 date outing will kick off on July 20 in Reading PA. A majority of the run will be spent in Canada before wrapping up on August 6 in Seattle, WA. Exodus, the Southern California thrashers, are set to open. That’s a smart choice considering Gary Holt, Exodus guitarist, is filling in for Jeff Hanneman, Slayer axeman, who is recovering from surgery. There has been no announcement on whether or not Hanneman will be able to return for the tour. Keep your ears and eyes open.

“Hell On Earth Tour” tickets will be going on sale via each of the venues websites starting on April 1.

Alice Cooper Teams With Rob Zombie for Co-headling Tour

Two of rocks more hardcore personalities, Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper, will join forces for a handful of tour dates in April and May. Aptly dubbed the “Gruesome Twosome Tour,” the co-headlining trek will kick off in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 26 and wrap up in Casper, Wyoming on May 4. After the duo have closed out the 7-city outing, Rob Zombie will launch his own summer tour. Full tour dates on both are listed below.

Via a press release, Rob Zombie said about the upcoming tour, “The dream or nightmare comes true! Me and The Coop have been talking about touring together for about 15 years and finally the moment is here. This will be without a doubt a rock ‘n’ roll spooktacular for all the cool ghouls.”

Rob Zombie’s just released his latest album “Hellbilly Deluxe 2” this month which serves as the bookend to the original “Hellbilly Deluxe” released in 1998. Alice Cooper’s last album “Along Came a Spider” was released in 2008.
