Summer will prove to be all work and no play for Canadian-based and award-winning rock band Nickelback as they tackle a headlining all-US tour from June 30 in Cincinnati to July 11 in Portland, ME, after which they will be touring with Bon Jovi through mid-July for a series of shows in the US and Canada as well.
They will be back on the road in August, this time for their own album tour all across the mid-west to further promote last year’s release “All the Right Reasons” which surfaced in November.
On August 8, they will be performing along with rock veterans Black Crowes, Live and Gin Blossoms at Sturgis, SD.
But before they embark on this lengthy North American summer road show, they will be joining Bon Jovi for a string of Europeans shows kicking off in four days (May 15) and running until June 11.
Nickelback’s complete tour schedule and ticket details are posted on the band’s website. It also features streaming of several tracks from the “All the Right Reasons” album which landed on the top spot of the Billboard 200 and moved more than 300,000 copies only during its first week.
When “All the Right Reasons” hit the shelves late last year, it sold more than 300,000 copies on its first week out and debuted at the top spot of the Billboard 200. So it is only necessary for Nickelback to hit the road again as early as late fall and spring of this year to further “Reasons” reach.
With the initially planned dates for January and February, NB added a March booking to their slated late fall-spring tour. The upcoming tour will kick off tomorrow, January 17 in Canada and will now conclude with a show in Manchester, NH on March 30.
Nickelback will also be appearing alongside Kanye West and Train in Detroit on February 2 for the Pepsi Smash Super Bowl Concert Series. It pre-empts a previously scheduled NB show in Green Bay, WI which is now slated for February 20.
To open for NB in their Canadian show line up are Danko Jones and Live. Danko Jones has been on an album tour throughout last year to promote their album “We Sweat Blood”. Their follow-up release “Sleep is the Enemy”, is scheduled to hit the shelves on May 26. The carrier single for the upcoming album is the track “First Date”.
Live, on the other hand, will be releasing “Songs from the Black Mountain” on March 21. Its carrier single, “The River” has already been receiving plenty of airplay in radio stations all over the country.
Meanwhile, Trapt who is still promoting its sophomore album “Someone in Control”, will open for NB for all its US city gigs in January and March.
While prepping for the upcoming release of their fifth album which as of press time, has no title and release date yet, Nickelback has announced a 6-city road show which will involve stops in the east, California, Vegas and a two-nighter in Canada as its first stop.
The shows will run from late August to early September, details of which are on the band’s website.
This will be the first time for Nickelback’s newest recruit, drummer Daniel Adair, to perform live with the band since he left his former group, 3 Doors Down. NB’s former drummer, Ryan Vikedal, left the band this year.
NB’s fifth studio album, which is their follow-up to 2003’s “The Long Road”, has been in the works for almost a year now. “The Long Road” was awarded a triple platinum status and spawned the hit “Someday”. It was a chart topper in Canadian album charts and climbed onto the no.6 spot on the Billboard 200.
Two of Alt-rock’s big names will be joining forces this summer for a one-month road show. Nickelback and 3 Doors Down will be co-headlining an all-US tour which also includes appearances in Milwaukee’s Summerfest on June 30 as its first stop.
Joining the tour are Puddle of Mudd and Three Days Grace as opening acts, with the former opening for the majority of the booked dates.
Presale tickets will be available to both band’s fan club members. Registration to 3 Doors Down’s fan club comes with a fee while for Nickelback’s fan club is free. Check out both bands’ website for more details on the tour.
Nickelback is currently promoting their September 2003 release “The Long Road”. It features the chart topping singles “Someday” and “Figured You Out”. Its newest single entitled “Feelin’ Way Too Damn Good” is set to hit the airwaves in May.
3 Doors Down’s current album is their 2002 release “Away from the Sun” which produced the hits “Here Without You” and “When I’m Gone”.
Both groups are expected to perform in sets complete with pryo and laser effects and video visualizations to further inspire a rock smashing performance from both bands and a lively participation from the audience.
Nickelback will be hitting the road again, this time, to play in front of their fellow Canadians for a post-holiday album tour.
The tour will entail a string of all-Canadian shows kicking off in January 19 in Kelowna, British Columbia and concluding with a February 23 outing in Quebec City. Tickets for this tour are now available via Ticketmaster Canada.
The band is currently taking a short holiday time off from a series of American shows to promote their September 2003 release “The Long Road”. The US shows featured the band singing hits from their new album and other hit tracks spanning from their earlier records, as well. In addition, the band’s stage was quoted to be “more pyro than ever”, with an extravagant light show and set design, as described in a post at the band’s website.
“The Long Road” is NB’s follow-up to their breakthrough record “Silver Side Up” which featured hit the tracks “How You Remind Me” and “Never Again”. The band’s record label, Roadrunner Records, have released limited edition copies of the new album which includes never-before-seen images of the band and three bonus tracks, one of which is the band’s cover of Sir Elton John’s “Saturday Night’s Alright (for Fighting)”.
The album’s carrier single, “Someday” has been widely received since it hit the airwaves even before the album’s release. The second single, “Figured You Out” will hit radios and music channels soon.
