Keith Urban Postpones Album Release for Stint in Rehab

Keith Urban, the country singer, with wife Nicole Kidman at his side, on October 19 checked into a rehab facility.

In a statement Urban said, I deeply regret any hurt I have caused Nicole and those who support and love me.  When it comes to recovery you can’t ever let your guard down.  Unfortunately I have I’m afraid.

With the unwavering support and strength of my wife, friends and family that I am so blessed to have, I am resolved and determined to have a positive outcome.

Urban, according to his statement, has postponed all his scheduled promotional appearances to support “Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing,” his upcoming album scheduled to be released on November 7.

The first appearance to be affected was his scheduled Friday October 30 performance at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut as part of the 10th anniversary celebration of Mohegan Sun Casino to be held over the weekend.  Other stars still appearing include Lily Tomlin, Craig Ferguson, Barenaked Ladies, Kevin Costner and Jerry Seinfeld.

It isn’t the first time Urban has gone into rehab.  In the past he has admitted that he freebased cocaine.

Keith Urban Forced to Cancel Tour Due to Vocal Chord Issues

Keith Urban, who has been ordered by doctors to give his voice a six weeks rest, has cancelled all concerts until April.

Urban, according to the statement that is posted on his website, has a serious and persistent vocal cord ailment.  Doctors have ordered a 6 week rest for his voice.

In a statement Dr. Garret from Vanderbilt Voice Clinic stated, Keith’s voice is improving.  However he’s still very at risk.  If he made a premature return to using his voice noramlly, including speaking and singing, he risks suffering potentially permanent damage.

Urban had been set to co-headline along with Carolyn Dawn Johnson on a tour in February of Canada as well as make an appearance on March 1 at Reliant Stadium at RodeoHouston.

In a statement Urban said, I’m devastated over what has developed and all the people being affected by the sitaution.  I’m sorry.  No words can express how disappointed I am.  I know I need to follow the instructions from my doctors so that I will be completely healthy by April so that Kenny Chesney and I can kick off our tour.
