Jason Mraz Lines Up Dates for World Tour

Jason Mraz has announced an extensive world tour that will keep him on the road for the majority of this year in support of his upcoming album, Love is a Four Letter Word.

Appropriately dubbed the “Tour is a Four Letter Word” tour, the trek will begin in Asia in June. After a July 1 date in Honolulu, the North American tour will kick off in full force on August 9 with a show at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans. The tour will run all the way into October when Mraz plays the Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas on October 9.

Other cities the tour will hit include Dallas; Houston; Atlanta; Charlotte, N.C.; Detroit; St. Louis; Kansas City, Mo.; Vancouver, BC and Berkeley, Calif., among many others. After the last North American date, Mraz will take about a month off before heading to Europe for a tour that will take up most of November.

Love is a Four Letter Word will be released in the U.S. on April 17. The album was preceded by the single “I Won’t Give Up” which was released this January. The song peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. The album will be Mraz’s first since 2008’s We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. That album spawned the hit singles “Make It Mine” and “Lucky.” Both songs won Grammy Awards, and the latter was a duet with pop singer Colbie Caillat.

The upcoming album is available for pre-order now on Mraz’s official website, and comes in a variety of packages. If the standard CD is pre-ordered, fans will receive a special non-album digital track on the album’s release date. The standard digital package will receive the same, though the deluxe digital package will come with an instant download of Live is a Four Letter Word, an EP of live recordings. The latter package also includes a demo of “I Won’t Give Up.”

Jason Mraz Goes Acoustic for Upcoming Tour

Jason Mraz Goes Acoustic for Upcoming Tour

Later this year, Jason Mraz will be hitting the international touring road and perform mainly acoustic shows to celebrate “Live at Lava Joe’s” ten year anniversary.

On August 7, the Grammy award-winning songwriter-singer will be kicking off his sporadic itinerary with a visit to Mountain View, CA. The following week he will be in Kansas City and appear at Farm Aid. In September, five dates in Europe are scheduled and three stands of two nights round the schedule out. On November 19 and 20, Mraz will play in Sydney, Australia, on November 23 and 25 in New York City and November 28 and 29 in San Diego.

This weekend tickets will be going on sale for most of his dates in the U.S. at jasonmraz.com.

Mraz will be performing with Noel “Toca” Rivera, the percussionist and his longtime friend, for most of the dates. A few others will be featuring Mraz’ Super Band.

In a recent press release, Mraz said, I love how Toca lays down those grooves with his drum. Also on the harmonies those delicate touches he find. He’s like having all the Boyz II Men and Dave Matthews Band members all rolled into one teddy bear wind-up toy for beating the drum.

In 2001, Toca and Mraz released the live compilation, 15 track “Live at Lava Joe’s.” The most recent studio album from Mraz “We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things” was released in 2008. The set peaked in the No. 3 spot on Billboard’s 200 chart. “I’m Yours,” the lead single off the album, won “Song of the Year” from the ASCAP in 2010.

Jason Mraz Embarks on 2010 Fall Tour

For Grammy Award winner Jason Mraz’s fall tour, he will be performing an all-new set of music material which is expected to come out from the artist’s forthcoming album.

The fall outing, opening on September 11 in Bangor, ME, will hit mostly east coast and Midwestern cities throughout September including a two-day booking in Chicago on September 17 and 18, with the Dave Matthews Band.

Mraz will also perform in three Canadian cities from October 4 to 6 till he finally hits his lone west coast stopover in Santa Barbara, CA on October 8, to finally close the month-long tour. Tickets for all stops are now on sale through the artist’s website.

Mraz clearly shows no signs of slowing down both in recording and in performing. In a previously released statement, Mraz says that after touring for the past two years, he realized that there are still several North American cities that he and his crew have not played yet, thanks to his fans’ Facebook shoutouts and emails, which is the motivation for the new fall tour.

As for recording, two years after the Billboard chart topper “We sing. We Dance. We Steal Things” came out, which is Mraz’s third studio set, the “I’m yours” artist is about to release his fourth record with which he spent the previous months working on. Those who’ll be coming to any of the fall shows will get to hear cuts from the as-of-yet to be titled album first hand, before it hits the airwaves and the shelves. No word yet as to when this record will surface in the market.

“Make It Mine” and “Lucky” (duet with Colbie Caillat), both of which appeared in Mraz’s third album, have earned the artist a couple of Grammy awards this year, for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
