Rock band Daughtry has announced the first leg of the Break the Spell tour, which will kick off March 20 in Buffalo, N.Y. The end of the tour will return the five-member band to New York, though this time they will be playing The Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. In between those dates, the band will play 23 concerts around the eastern half of North America, including stops in Toronto, Atlanta, Nashville, Pittsburgh and Lowell, Mass. Most dates will find the former “<a href="http://concerttour.org/american-idol-tour"title="American Idol Tour" >American Idol” finalist playing to crowds in theaters.

Openers for all shows will be Nashville band SafetySuit and singer-songwriter Mike Sanchez. Daughtry promised attendees a rocking time at these shows. SafetySuit recently landed their debut album These Times at number seven on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

“We recorded a hard-hitting rock album that is primed to blow the doors off these great theaters,” he said in a release announcing the show. “Fans who come out are going to get an incredible show every night.”

The tour is in support of the group’s third studio album, Break the Spell. That album was released in November 2011, and has since been certified gold. It debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200 albums charts, and number two on the Billboard Hard Rock Charts.

One dollar from each ticket sold at these shows is set to go benefit Malaria No More. The group is a humanitarian group with the goal of ending malaria in Africa by 2015.

Chris Daughtry, lead singer and namesake of the band, gained recognition when he competed on the fifth season of “American Idol” in 2006. Though he placed fourth in that season, he has gone on to become the third most successful former “American Idol” from any season in terms of record sales – only behind <a href="http://concerttour.org/kelly-clarkson-tour"title="Kelly Clarkson Tour" >Kelly Clarkson and <a href="http://concerttour.org/carrie-underwood-tour"title="Carrie Underwood Tour" >Carrie Underwood.

We are making the commitment that we will keep the JetBlue experience innovative and fresh, both on the ground and in flight. We know Daughtry will be a big hit for all the lucky travelers on August 19 out of T5.

In addition JetBlue partnered with local radio stations and gave 20 winners and guests admittance to the event also.

Last month this year’s concert series “Live from T5” was kicked off by <a href="http://concerttour.org/sarah-mclachlan-tour"title="Sarah McLachlan Tour" >Sarah McLachlan. She performed cuts and hits from “Laws of Illusion,” her new album, prior to the New York Lilith Fair date.

JetBlue started their concert series “Live from T5” last year. Dan Dyer, American Princes and Nicole Atkins have also been featured performers, among others. More dates for future performances at the terminal throughout the year will be announced at a later date.

Chris Daughtry, Season 5 finalist, and Jon Bon Jovi were also in the spotlight.

Jon Bon Jovi performed a song from the band's latest album, “Superman Tonight.” He also responded to Ryan Seacrest's references to the singer's age. Seacrest asked Bon Jovi, who is 48 years old, how the band was able to keep things fresh after being in the music business for decades.

Bon Jovi replied good luck and hard work. Also good friends putting us in all of the right places.

Chris Daughtry did a performance of “September,” a single from “Leave This Town,” his latest album. Daughtry said the song was his way of attempting to explore his childhood and come to terms with it.
