Beyonce, Jay-Z Announce Baby News at VMA Awards

The MTV Video Music Awards every year are noted for having outrageous moments.

The show in Los Angeles this year is making headlines as usual thanks to Beyonce making a major announcement.

Ben Tracy, a national correspondent for CBS News, reported there was no host for the show. However, a guy character that was vaguely familiar opened the show, then throughout the night kept returning.

The guy was actually Lady Gaga, who was there with a cigarette that was ever-present and slicked back hair.

Among the other performances that were attention getting were those from Chris Brown, taking his dance moves up into new heights, and Adele, the British singer.

However, the show was stolen by Beyonce, with her news that her and Jay-Z, her husband, are expecting the couple’s first child.

Britney Spears, the pop star mom, accepted two awards. However, she turned the chance down for a kiss with GaGa, similar to the infamous one her and Madonna had. Britney said, I’ve already done that.

Nicki Minaj appeared as if she had raided the closet of Lady Gaga’s. Although she won two awards, Katy Perry was most noticed, perhaps, for her yellow cube hat. Her two awards included video of the year, the biggest award of the night.

The show turned serious when a poignant tribute was offered by Tony Bennett for Amy Winehouse.

Bennett remarked, Amy was truly a jazz artist, just like Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. She truly did have the gift.

Bennett offered a moving video that was a duet of him and Winehouse recorded only weeks before she died.

Beyonce Speaks Out on Leak of New Album ’4′

Beyonce Speaks Out on Leak of New Album ’4′

When it comes to her whole new album “4” being leaked three weeks prior to its scheduled release date of June 28, Beyonce is looking at it from the glass half full perspective.

On June 8, Beyonce issued a statement that lamented the leak of the album, but she that said she is making the most from the eagerness that her fans are showing to get a hold of the first new set of songs from her since “I Am… Sasha Fierce,” her double disc from 2008.

Beyonce wrote, my music has been leaked. Although this isn’t how I would like my new songs to be presented, I do appreciate my fans’ positive reaction. While I am recording my music, I’m always thinking about fans dancing to each beat and singing to every note. I want people to feel happy when they listen to my music. I really appreciate how everybody has been very anxious to listen to my new songs.

On Tuesday, Beyonce’s fans were thrilled when “Party,” her collaboration with Andre 3000, was leaked weeks prior to the release date of the new album. The album faced several leaks during the last week. Shortly after “Party,” the Consequence and Kanye West-produced song was leaked, “Countdown” another single which samples “Uhh Ahh” by Boyz II Men, surfaced as well. Then the whole album was leaked.

While Beyonce’s team is scrambling to take links down that have surfaced all over the internet, other links are being put up on Twitter by online rogues, which makes it more difficult for Beyonce’s label to track the music down. Fans have already been able to listen to several tracks off the new set, including “Run the World (Girls),” the first single uptempo dancehall tune, “1+1,” a lush ballad, and “Best Thing I Never Had,” the official second single. “End of Time,” a song sampling the late Fela Kuti, the Afrobeat superstar, has been leaked as well online.

Nerves Plague Beyonce Over Upcoming Glastonbury Set

Nerves Plague Beyonce Over Upcoming Glastonbury Set

Grammy winning performer Beyonce is apparently feeling jittery for her big summer gig at the Glastonbury Festival later this month.

Just how jittery is the ‘Single Ladies’ singer? According to reports, she had the Pyramid Stage reserved two weeks ahead of time so she can thoroughly prepare for her headlining performance that will not only feature her most loved (and danced) songs, but will also include “dizzying pyrotechnics”, as described by a source speaking to The Mirror. The source also adds, “She’s literally playing with fire. Her performance at Glastonbury is already looking epic.”

Husband Jay-Z and Kanye West are said to be helping the R&B diva get through this prestigious musical undertaking across the pond (Jay-Z headlined the festival back in 2008). Rappers Yeezy and Jigga will be joining the former Destiny’s Child singer onstage while she pulls out all the stops for her 90-minute set showcasing her greatest hits, famous dance moves, dazzling stage presence and also her new single, ‘Run the World (Girls)’, fresh from her upcoming fourth solo studio effort aptly entitled ‘4’.

Beyonce will grace the festival on its last day on June 26 as its featured act, while ‘4’ is set to drop the following day, on the 27th.

Madonna, Beyonce, Groban Perform on Oprah Finale

For the finale of ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’, almost every big name in Hollywood and in music showed up to bid the Queen of All Media adieu, not for good though, only in daytime network TV. From the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, to the currently controversial Maria Shriver, to the likes of Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks and Madonna, the star-studded guest list for the two-episode finale of the 25-year talk show is a testament to Oprah’s power and influence, and how much she will be missed from daytime TV.

Several performances filled the celebration which is why the two-part episode had to be held not in the show’s usual home at Harpo Studios, but at the United Center nonetheless, home of the Chicago Bulls! Never mind that Derrick Rose and the rest of the Bulls are battling LeBron James and the Miami Heat for the NBA Eastern Conference Finals, what Oprah wants, she gets!

The song ‘I Gotta Feeling’, as performed by Will.I.Am, started things off, followed by ‘Isn’t She Lovely’, a duet shared by Jamie Foxx and Stevie Wonder. Aretha Franklin performed the well-fitting track ‘Amazing Grace’, while Beyonce, whose new single ‘Run the World (Girls)’ has been performing poorly in the charts, used the opportunity to turn Oprah and the 20,000 members of the audience into a fan of the song, in the hopes of boosting the single’s airplay and chart performance. Another duet, ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’, performed by Josh Groban and Patti LaBelle caused an overflow of emotions on stage but not until Madonna, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Simon Cowell and best of all, Maria Shriver appeared on stage, all of them stepping out to the tune of ‘Oh Happy Day’, which Usher performed along with his 2010 summer hit ‘OMG’ for the vast crowd. If Oprah had the power to resurrect Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Taylor, they probably would have been there too, just saying.

Beyonce’s Latest Album Set for June Release

Beyonce’s Latest Album Set for June Release

According to reports, June will be when Beyonce will be dropping her new album.

There have been rumors recently that she is recording new songs in collaboration with Odd Future and Sleigh Bells, and now it appears that she is going to be releasing them this summer.

Denis Handlin, head of Sony Music Australia, gave an interview to the Daily Telegraph in which he revealed the schedule and said that Beyonce is looking to perform a lot of concerts on tour with this album.

Handlin said, “It was just amazing. She came in and played us six tracks from the album. She wants to do a big tour off the back of this record…these songs, the best description I can give is groundbreaking; she’s gone to another level”

In addition to a possible tour, in June Beyonce will be headlining the Glastonbury festival.

Beyonce has not released an album since ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’ in 2008.

Beyonce Cans Her Business Manager Dad

Beyonce Cans Her Business Manager Dad

After almost 15 years, Mathew Knowles will no longer be managing the career of his daughter Beyonce.

However, both daughter and father insist it is an amicable split and they are still devoted to their relationship and family.

In a statement Beyonce said, my father and I are only parting ways at the business level. I am very grateful for all that my father has taught me. While I was growing up I watched both my mother and father own and manage their own businesses. My parents were hard working entrepreneurs. I am following in their footsteps. I dearly love my dead. He will always be my father.

Mathew Knowles has guided the career of Beyonce’s since the middle 1990s when she was a member of Destiny’s Child, the girl group. Although the worth of his daughter is higher than some countries, Beyonce’s statement was backed up by Papa Knowles, stating that their split was completely a business decision.

Knowles said, we agreed mutually to part ways as far as managing Beyonce. My focus is on the growing inspirational and gospel music division of Music World Entertainment. Our roster includes such Top artists as Dr. Juanita Bynum, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Micha Stampley, Brian Courtney Wilson and Trinity 5:7. Because these artists are all so successful, my focus right now needs to be with gospel. In addition I will still be continuing my joint venture relationship with Columbia and work with Destiny’s Child as well as develop new artists such as From Above the pop band from the U.K., and the kids’ music division at Music World.

US Weekly reports that Beyonce is planning on releasing a new album late in the year. However she hasn’t hired a new manager yet.

Mathew said Beyond has the experience and knowledge to make the decision. She hasn’t made a final decision yet.

Beyonce Teams with Clint Eastwood for ‘A Star is Born’ Remake

Beyonce Teams with Clint Eastwood for ‘A Star is Born’ Remake

The new version of A Star Is Born, directed by Clint Eastwood, Beyonce will play the same part as Janet Gaynor, Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand.

This production will be the fourth in history. It first hit the big screen in 1937.

Beyonce is currently discussing playing the role of Esther Blodgett, the main character of the story who heads to Hollywood thinking she’s going to be famous. She runs into Norman Maine, who is an ex-star with a drinking problem. They fall in love, and Maine helps her become famous even as his career fades.

While it has not yet been announced who will play Maine’s part, both Russell Crowe and Robert Downey Jr. have been mentioned.

Knowles is primarily recognized for her vocal abilities, but in the 2006 movie Dreamgirls, she showed her acting skills in the film that told the actual story of The Supremes.

Warner Bros has verified that Eastwood, who is 80 years old, is in discussions about doing the remake. The last time A Star Is Born was on the big screen was in 1976, when Barbra Streisand played Blodgett and Kris Kristofferson played Maine. An Oscar was awarded to Streisand for her performance of Evergreen, the movie’s theme song. However, movie critics continue to argue about the importance of the film.

In 1954, James Mason played Maine and Judy Garland played Blodgett. This version was nominated for 6 Oscars and is usually included on lists of best musicals ever. The first version of the film debuted in 1937 and starred Fredric Marsh as Maine and Janet Gaynor as Blodgett. This film was awarded an honorary Academy Award because it featured Technicolor, a technique that had only just been developed.

Eastwood has begun to do more work as a director than as an actor and has indicated that he wants to direct more movies that star strong women as the main characters, particularly after the movie Million Dollar Baby did so well. That film starred Hilary Swank as a boxer. Eastwood stated, “I’ve always been intrigued by [their] stories. I think women have more of an uphill battle than men have, so it becomes a more dramatic situation.”

Grammys Award Big Night to Beyonce, Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift wasn’t exactly on her game when performing an offkey disaster with Stevie Nicks at the 2010 Grammys, but it didn’t seem to matter as she went home with the coveted Album of the Year honors for ‘Fearless.’ At the ripe old age of 20, she becomes the youngest artist to win the award, and the best part is she didn’t have to contend with Kanye West storming the stage to put his two cents in. Taylor took home three Grammys before the night was finished.

Beyonce also took the ceremony hostage as she took home 6 Grammy Awards which was a record by a woman artist. Among her accolades were best female pop vocal performance and song of the year for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).”

Lady Gaga opened the evening in style with a theatrical performance of her hit single “Poker Face” and was joined by Sir Elton John. Other performances during the evening failed to live up to bar Gaga set. Pink had an ill-advised stripper-meets-Cirque du Soleil moment. Eminem, Lil Wayne and Drake kept the CBS editors working overtime to screen out of overflow of obscenity.

Other notable winners included Zac Brown Band as best new artist and Kings of Leon for Record of the Year for “Use Somebody,” a big upset considering their competition — Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Black Eyed Peas and Lady Gaga. Lionel Richie presented a lifetime achievement award for Michael Jackson to his children yet no apology for the lackluster tribute performance by the likes of Jennifer Hudson, Usher and Carrie Underwood.

Taylor Swift, Beyonce Set to Perform at Grammys

On Tuesday, it was announced that among the super stars set to perform in Los Angeles at the Grammy Awards on January 31 are Taylor Swift, Beyonce and the Black Eyed Peas.

An inside source revealed to People Magazine on Tuesday that Swift, the country cutie, will be a presenter for the show. Beyonce is the leading nominee with 10 nominations and Swift is second with eight.

Fellow nominees Maxwell (six nominations) and Lady Antebellum (two nominations) will also be performing on the CBS live telecast. Other entertainers will be named later.

Beyonce this year, who has already won 10 Grammy awards, has been nominated for Song of the Year with “Single Ladies,” Album of the Year for “I Am Sasha Fierce,” and Record of the Year for “Halo.”

The nominations for Swift include Song of the Year as well as Record of the Year for “You Belong With Me,” and her “Fearless” has been nominated for Album of the Year.

The Black Eyed Peas, triple Grammy Award winners, have been nominated for six awards. “The E.N.D.” has been nominated for Album of the Year and “I Gotta Feeling,” for Record of the Year.

Kayne West, the “rival” of Swift at the MTV Video Awards, has six nominations as well, setting up another showdown between West and Swift, if West actually shows up.
