Aimee Mann Gets Musical on Upcoming Concert Tour

This fall Aimee Mann, along will her band, will be touring across the US as she treats fans to new songs she wrote for her forthcoming musical debut.

The outing will be kicked off by Mann, along with Jamie Edwards and Paul Bryan, with a run of three nights in Minneapolis from September 13-15.  The tour’s roster includes another 12 cities, including two nights in Chicago on September 18-19, and three nights in San Francisco on October 7-9.

Mann will be performing songs from her seven albums, in addition to new songs she wrote for her upcoming musical debut which is based on “The Forgotten Arm,” her 2005 collection.

The musical’s release date hasn’t been announced yet.  It takes place during the 1970′s and chronicles a budding relationship between boxer and addicted Vietnam vet John and Caroline, a young woman, as the two travel across America.

The most recent studio album from Mann, “@#%&! Smilers,” was released in 2008.  It peak at the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Independent Albums chart.
