Carrie Underwood, Steven Tyler to Film Crossroads Special

Carrie Underwood, Steven Tyler to Film Crossroads Special

After making a splash by performing with each other at last year’s Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, Steven Tyler and Carrie Underwood have decided to do a more lengthy performance together for “CMT Crossroads.”

The current “American Idol” judge and the former “American Idol” will sing in “CMT Crossroads: Steven Tyler & Carrie Underwood From the Pepsi Super Bowl Fan Jam.” The performance, which will be held in Indianapolis at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, will air live on February 4, the night before Super Bowl XLVI takes place down the road at Lucas Oil Stadium, which is also in Indianapolis.

At the Academy of Country Music Awards, the duo sang Underwood’s hit “Undo It,” followed by a rendition of “Walk this Way,” from Tyler’s band Aerosmith. Underwood has won the prestigious Entertainer of the Year Award from the show two times in the past, in 2008 and 2009. After winning the fourth season of American Idol in 2005, she has since gone on to sell over 14 million albums around the world.

Tyler was a founding member of Aerosmith when the band formed in 1970, and continues to perform with the band while performing his duties as an “American Idol” judge. The band is expected to release a new album later this year.

“American Idol” began its 10th season last week on January 18, with the second half of the season debut on January 19. Tyler became a judge during the 10th season, along with Jennifer Lopez. That was the season that original judge Simon Cowell left, leaving Randy Jackson as the only remaining judge from the original season of “American Idol,” since Paula Abdul had left before Cowell. This year’s season premiere has already been the talk of many media reports because it was the lowest rated debut since the first season of reality singing competition.

Aretha Franklin, Steven Tyler Engaged – Just Not to Each Other

Classic singers Aretha Franklin and Steven Tyler are engaged! But don’t worry, they are not engaged to each other.

Aretha Franklin announced recently that she will wed longtime partner William “Willie” Wilkerson, likely in a wedding ceremony in Miami Beach this summer. The 69-year-old Queen of Soul made the announcement along with a dash of humor.

“No, I’m not pregnant,” she said.

In December 2010, Franklin underwent surgery that was originally erroneously reported to be a result of pancreatic cancer. Through Franklin never revealed what the surgery was for, she did confirm it was not cancer, but that it had added 15 to 20 years to her life. Since that time, she has lost 85 pounds. Franklin has been married twice before.

Notorious womanizer Tyler will wed Erin Brady, his girlfiend of seven years. In addition, he recently talked with Oprah Winfrey on an episode of “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” where he revealed new thoughts on monogamy.

“For all the divorces I’ve had, I hurt those girls deeply,” said the Aerosmith frontman and “American Idol” judge. “And there was some behavior that I’m ashamed of and I shouldn’t have done. I don’t want to hurt anybody again.

“I may come off as a sexual animal,” he went on, “and I definitely am on stage, ‘cause trust me, I feel it myself. Bit I’m not really, really that. I’ll sing about it, I put it out there but I’m not… I want [Erin] for my own, and if that’s gonna take that away from it, I don’t (do it).”

Tyler has been married twice. Brady also had some words for Winfrey that suggested she had give Tyler an ultimatum.

“I just said, ‘Hey listen, if you play, I’m gonna play,’” she said. “He didn’t really like when he was on the other side of that scenario.”

Shower Fall Leaves Steven Tyler Short Teeth

Aerosmith front man and American Idol judge Steven Tyler was injured in Paraguay on Tuesday after falling in his hotel shower. The fall resulted in a loss of two teeth and cuts to his face—Tyler reportedly received stitches and emergency dental surgery.

Eric Sherman, Tyler’s manager, said the fall was a result of food poisoning. A spokesperson for the promoter of the show, which was to take place Tuesday night in Asuncion, Paraguay, said Tyler was dehydrated and suffering gastrointestinal problems before he fell.

Tuesday night’s show was rescheduled for Wednesday, and Tyler was reportedly doing “fine,” according to another show promoter, after spending four hours at La Costa medical center.

Aerosmith is currently in the midst of a world tour that will see them playing countries in Latin America before going to Japan in late November. The tour will conclude in Sapporo on December 10.

Two years ago, Tyler made headlines for a fall off a stage in South Dakota that resulted him being airlifted to a hospital. The rest of that tour was cancelled and the incident nearly broke up the band, as there was talk of starting a search for a new singer to replace Tyler.

In the intervening years, the 63-year-old Tyler has become a judge on American Idol and the band released a new greatest hits album, Tough Love: Best of the Ballads, on May 10, 2011. The Latin America and Japan tour was announced shortly thereafter to support the album.

The band had begun recording for its next record back in 2008, but work often was delayed by band tensions and other issues. Early this year, Tyler announced that the band would begin working on the album again, which would be the first new Aerosmith release since 2004’s Honkin’ on Bobo. As of August of this year, the new album is set to be released around May 2012, though no further details have emerged.

Tyler Says New Aerosmith Album Coming, Band to Perform on American Idol Finale

Steven Tyler, lead singer of Aerosmith has issued an update on the new album that is set to be released by the group.

Tyler indicated that he has been collaborating with Joe Perry, guitar player for the group, on recording several new songs. In addition, the group announced that it had recently played together at Marti Frederiksen’s Monrovia, California recording studio.

Tyler stated, “I sent Joe a bunch of songs and he sent me a bunch of licks, we’ve e-mailed back and forth with each other. All I need is a few good licks. That’s the way ‘Walk This Way’ was written, one of Joe Perry’s licks and I grabbed the ball and ran with it. And that’s all it takes sometimes.”

Tyler indicated that the band has been going through a rough patch over the past few years. In fact, Aerosmith nearly broke up before an intervention was held and Tyler went into rehab and left the group.

In an interview with Billboard, Tyler said, “Sometimes other people try to keep us apart, so it’s a little difficult. I’m with different management. They’re with different management, they’ve got their lawyers. I’ve got my lawyers. When we get together in a room, magic happens. Things get settled. It’s just hard right now, but who knows what this summer will bring.”

In addition, Tyler also verified that Aerosmith will be playing on American Idol this season.

He stated, “We’re playing the last show of the season. It was always my intention, always, to get Aerosmith on the show. I mean, Joe’s done it, I’m ready for it.”

Steven Tyler Reported to Be New American Idol Judge

Although officially Fox is saying “no comment,” an inside music source has confirmed that the flamboyant singer from Aerosmith late last week finalized negotiations and officially is signed to be one of the judges on “American Idol‘s” 10th season.  Wow now there is someone whose makeup is wackier than Paula Abdul’s.

Then there’s the other glitzy woman rumored for a judge’s position.

The diva demands of Jennifer Lopez haven’t put her totally from the running for a spot on the judge’s panel.  However, supposedly she is asking more than $20 million in addition to her own styling, makeup and hair team as well as a dressing room compound.  This doesn’t exactly align with what Fox was thinking.  Particularly since thy are still talking with other big celebrity names.

Probably Tyler could get away with just about anything because he really hasn’t caused a fuss.   However so far what he has asked for mostly is that when he hits television this fall that he look real good.

Like having a top notch makeup and wardrobe team available at all times.  However, trust me, he isn’t being all J.Lo about this.  That’s a very good thing.  Like we’ve been saying ever since Paul left, Idol desperately need s to have someone to bring the crazy makeup and fashion.

What about bringing just the crazy?

That will need to be provided by the next judge, whoever that is.  Any suggestions?  At Fox it’s crunch time right now, so speak up.

When we say Jessica Simpson should be given another thought we are not being at all sarcastic.  It would be Chicken of the Sea meeting music.  Totally awesome.

Steven Tyler Quits Aerosmith

You knew the bad blood was boiling between Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler and lead guitarist Joe Perry when their summer tour started to fall apart as they eyed the finish line. Joe Perry has confirmed that Tyler has called it a day on the successful band. Perry reports that he hasn’t talked with Tyler since their show in Abu Dhabi last month. He explained to a Las Vegas newspaper, “Steven quit as far as I can tell. I don’t know anymore than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don’t know for how long, indefinitely or whatever. Other than that, I don’t know.”

Joe Perry said he was informed of Tyler’s abrupt departure via a post on the Internet and that repeated phone calls to Tyler have gone unanswered. Perry was vocal about Tyler’s propensity for injury during the 2009 tour. Tyler pulled a muscle in his leg causing the band to cancel seven dates only to be followed by an incident in Sturgis, South Dakota in which Tyler fell off the stage, breaking his left shoulder and requiring 20 stitches to his head.

Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are the original founding members of Aerosmith and have been going strong since 1969. There was a brief time in 1979 which Perry jumped ship after eight years of manic touring, but things were eventually patched up.

Aerosmith Cancels Remaining Summer Tour Dates

Aerosmith has cancelled all the remaining tour dates on their summer tour. The announcement came after frontman Steven Tyler took a nasty fall from the stage in Sturgis, South Dakota last week. The accident happened during the performance of “Love in an Elevator.” Tyler was initially treated at a local hospital before returning to Boston to continue treatment under care of his own doctors.

In response to the tour cancellation, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry said, “Words can’t express the sadness I feel for having to cancel this tour,” said guitarist Joe Perry. “We hope we can get the Aerosmith machine up and running again as soon as possible.”

Tyler’s spill marked the second accident during this Aerosmith tour. He also sprained his leg in July postponing several Florida dates. Aerosmith said refunds will be issued for all tickets purchased for cancelled shows.
